Love these old photos -- particularly the ones from '65-'67. Goes well with this song, and there's something sad and nostalgic about looking at them with this music. Another time and place, now nothing but photos, recordings, and memories.

The first time I heard this song was when watching excerpts from the Concerts for Kampuchea

This isn't really a demo, in the usual sense of the term. It's an earlier full take. There are multiple overdubs here, all flawlessly delivered, as in a final production. Quite the pleasure, and I'm not even a big Who fan.

Utterly fascinating, this extended arrangement. The long instrumental middle section is amazing. While I miss the boys on this version (John, Roger and Keith), it's a great version of one of my favourite songs of all time.

It's kind of incredible to me how much better audio quality this track has compared to the finished version with the whole band. The drums in particular are super deep and clear sounding, whereas the kit on the record kinda sounds a bit 2 dimensional. Pretty incredible drum sound for a 1970s home studio recording. Honestly sounds like they were cut at Abbey Road.

I remember when Scoop was first released and I played it for the first time. I couldn't believe my ears. Demos? Really? It was a revelation to me and grew my respect for Pete as a songwriter and artist that much more. So meticulous and assured. Amazing. The Who really were PETE. All Pete. One of Pete's prettiest songs and his vocal delivery is sublime. This should have been on Who's Next. His home demos are so good. Imagine him arriving at the studio with this tucked under his arm and saying there you go lads.

This is fantastic! But I feel like the first studio take in New York City should be considered the true demo. Even the organ synthesizer was looped into slightly different patterns before they re-recorded the song.

Direct comparisons b/t WHO and solo Pete are "apples vs. road apples". Each is very important but in different context. Pete Solos are very personal, and WHO versions can't be properly compared.

This man makes you feel like you are in the room as he his thinking. BEST LYRICIST EVER. (sorry Bob Dylan and Boss, but you have different priorities) Pete takes it all as is and makes it applicable to everyone
