Does NASA use a BIC or Zippo lighter to lite the fuse for engines ?

Enjoyed standing next to that beautiful Wing many times at Chino Air Museum. Yesterday's Lockheed 12A Electra from 'Yanks' crash adds to the loss of vintage aircraft and fearless pilots. RIP. Fearless. To the end.

Greg JARVIS was first blamed for not SEALING, payload doors, THEN NASA was blamed for , UTILIZING old tanks For H2O2. MUSK bought all of those used tanks at his coveted 3.0 %. twas 1984 The steam from tower ruined all seals and aircraft exploded into a million pieces. Morton Thiokol was only 1/2 the story. Cockpits will typically explode like an aerosol can,no matter its contents or bad NAVGAS. it's ENGINE exploded, tomasz,,, ,,,Bell engine splattered both lives against the windshield of Helicopter cockpit. lucky they recovered their Souls.

When you're flying the sky around you seems so vast that it lulls you into a false sense of safety. I had a near mid air collision at around 2000ft AGL west of Atlanta once when someone who departed Rome or another nearby small strip climbed quickly right through my flight path. The gap was less than 50ft. Scared me badly. I can't explain it but in the vastness of the sky, un controlled aircraft often seem to be drawn towards the exact same airspace. even away from (but usually close to) airfields. Never be lulled into a sense of safety and assume separation. If you have passengers I would advise gently explaining the sky and asking them to also keep an eye out during the flight.

Use at the base of the fire to disrupt air flow...any other use is a waste unless you have a lot of equipment

Unfortunately, the extinguishers used were not the type effective against gasoline/kerosene/oil based fires.

I like how the one lady had a fire extinguisher in one hand and her cell phone in the other but she found it more important to record the fire rather use the extinguisher. Awesome smh

So… where’s ground calling that aircraft when it bushed back?! Why aren’t they alerting other aircraft about this rogue aircraft taxiing?! Who pushed-back the plane?! How did he know to start the engines?! How did he know ground freq?! How did he know how to fly so well?! Why was tower not calling the plane who clearly wasn’t cleared to take off?! I thought he hijacked a Horizon aircraft? Why the focus on Alaska?!

ngl I have to agree with the TSA's decision to make the CCTV footage of how Richard Russell defeated airport security exempt. Working at FedEx Alliance Airport, I'm very aware how easily it would be to gain access to an airliner. We don't need more mentally disturbed people or people who want to due harm to know how to gain access to the ramp. Airplanes don't need keys. Airplane cockpit layouts are public information and can easily be learned well enough within a week to get a plane off the ground.

Right across from Mimis Cafe. You can see the tesla chargers. I was driving to Sams Club and everything was backed up beyond the I-75 overpass. Saw an ambulance pass by me as I waited. I guess that was from the plane wreck, although I didn't know it at the time. Im sorry for the victims and their families.

What we learn from history is that we don’t learn from history. Apollo 1 crew got killed due to the immense political pressure during the space race with the Soviet Union. Here again the crew was wasted due to political pressure ignoring experts warnings about the known technical issue with the o-ring.

At 5.15 onwards it is quite possible that we are witnessing the cockpit free falling into the ocean, during which time the seven crew members may have still been alive and even conscious. I can only imagine the terrible scenes the crew were exposed to and experiencing during their descent and subsequent impact onto the water which mercifully end their horrifying torment. May they all Rest in Peace.
