Just received the script I ordered after reminiscing with my mom about seeing this play in Dallas in the late '80s. Can't believe I didn't remember it was a full-on musical. Only remembered the scene when they're playing the one song any of them know and vaguely remembered the song they sang in the contest. Surprised to see that the script contains all the lyrics but no music. How do you get that part?!? Want to recommend that a local theater revive this.

Fun memories! Was Bev in the 1989 production at the Playhouse in Pleasant Hill, CA. We were in rehearsal when the Loma Prieta Earthquake (aka “The Battle of the Bay World Series opening game” earthquake!) hit! Yeah…we were really all shook up! SHIFT HAPPENS!

Having lived in both Tacoma and TX, I can see clearly that those north of the Mason Dixon Line, even if it is west of the Mississippi, have no business doing southern parody. You have to live it and love it to do it right. God Blessed Texas!

I love how this 90 second version is still more book-accurate than the actual movie

Oh yes and I'm sure you could do a better attempt at a accent.Their accents highlights the differences in the area's they were brought up and shows how each character is has a different personality

In my school's version of the play, we have an australian playing Diana, an Italian playing Paul, and a Finnish/Russian/German/Estonian playing Evelyn.
