They re-numbered them, then ran them for a very short amount of time, then they had to stop because the cars were considered "evidence"

@bruce8420 Huh? Have you bothered looking at the Septa website at all? I haven't been to Europe but I bet I can tell you what class train cars they use on the LU by doing some research. The Frankford El exists, it was rebuilt in place like the whole line been but its still there.
@Shinycelebi13 жыл бұрын
@francie18 Thank you.
@Shinycelebi13 жыл бұрын
@bruce8420 Once upon a time, it was more elevated then subway. Beyond the point, I preferred the 69th st side because of original construction still in use where as the Frankford side got rid of theirs even though they do use the same middle piers to hold up the tracks.

@mareobasbankz123 Confused at what you mean? They were doing the station is segments, they closed and took down one half of the platform to put up the new one, but to keep the station in service, they extended the platforms temporally.

@italiandom7221991 If you noticed, they were still building the station. All the stations closed on the Market St side at one point or another to be rebuilt.

i like this train model because passengers can see the tracks from a driver's point of view.
@ArtStone14 жыл бұрын
A bit short on passengers on the platforms. 8 car trains? People want mass transit so everyone else will ride it.

hey does anyone know if the LIRR actually uses M3 cars 9945-9946/ ex-9891-9892 or did they just take them out of service after that psychopath colin furgusen opened fire on those cars? ive never actually seen those 2 cars ever! ALSO has anyone been on cars 9893-9894 which i read on wikipedia got an interior makeover to look like the M7 interior?
@Shinycelebi14 жыл бұрын
@2012alexg They were renovating the station when I visited there. It was around the time the Charlie Ticket started.
@Train53815 жыл бұрын
Yeah sorry my other comments are really old. Yes you are correct (this includes Metro-North too). The M5s were designed but never built. And about the M3s; I have the number completely wrong. This number should be much more accurate (hopefully I have the correct information): there are 176 M3s in service on the LIRR.
@ENTERTAINMENT3515 жыл бұрын
@Train538 I reckon the LIRR never had M5 trains or did they? if they did wouldnt we see them?
@ENTERTAINMENT3515 жыл бұрын
@Train538 : when i went to the isles/rangers game last month i counted 9 M3 trains in service so thats at least 90 cars still in service, granted that each of those 9 trains had 10 cars on them each.

There was construction on the tracks.

I wonder if anyone out there filmed the ride on the temporary track built during the construction of I-95? It was made mostly of wood and rose high above the already elevated roadway construction at Spring Garden street where the wind would rock it from side to side. At rush hour it was like riding in a crowded roller-coaster.

Yeah. It's kinda of sad that SEPTA did away with the vast majority of its street car routes. From what I understand, the system was massive, and it streteched all over Philly. Correct me if I'm worng.

lol i dont got that sexy doorchime that we nyc subway riders have?? wow but cool KINDA
@italobambino4315 жыл бұрын
The Broad street subway if you look at all the stops going either Northbound or south, at one time all those stops had major streecar routes that served the Subway, that was there intent back in the early 20's. Today the sreet cars are now busses, the only real trolleys that still connect with the blue line are the Rt.13 Girard ave. and whats left of the Rt. 23 on G-Town ave. In south Philly the 79 trackless trolley and 29 on Tasker-Morris.

Now we have none of these except for the 13
@italobambino4315 жыл бұрын
I am glad that when Septa reconstructed the Northeast section of the blue line, MFL in the early 90's, they retained most of the original structure, they restored the trestle that went over Lehigh ave. They used long cross beams and layed a pre-fab concrete track bed on top, and the stations are a mix of old and new, the west end is completely new, it looks almost like a monorail. Our subway system is unique because of it's size-
@italobambino4315 жыл бұрын
Well, in Boston the streets go in circles, which is why they say there In-Bound and Out Bound, I dont' know why people keep comparing New York to Philadelphia in terms of the Subways, we have the Orange line, the blue line, the subway-surface trolleys or green lines and the Locust st or Patco to New Jersey, Yeah the suburban trains go under ground to Suburban station that is unique and it's old to, but in terms of size, were compact.
@italobambino4315 жыл бұрын
The condition of west Philly's El, was in satisfactory condtion, I just found this out, and there initial intent was to reconstruct all the main supports an widen the stance of the supports, or make them centrally located underneath, it would have costed way-way more. Cheaper to replace it.
@italobambino4315 жыл бұрын
A fact that really annoyed me, they could have saved that section for a little bit of history. The main reason why they did not salvage any of this elevated because of it's design, the supports run straight down, and they were in the middle of the street, The Frankford end of the elevated was built between 1913 and 1921, the structural supports extend to the curbs and in one stretch between Church st. and Bridge it has center supports, they salvaged those, I saw them restore that stretch in 1993
@italobambino4315 жыл бұрын
I think the new structure look horrible, no character, they most likely wanted to just replace the trackbed, I do not know what the structures overall condition was, it had a concrete track bed above, as it did from 1903, our elevated was way newer than New York, Boston and Chicago's, there structures were built differently, this structure sat right in the middle of Market street, Northeast was easier to restore, the structural supports went to the curb, it of course was built way later.

the path sim is only good for eye candy..but it aint accurate..for instance from journal sq to grove st. then to exchange place it should be a straight ride not all that tight twisting and turning like you get in the path sim...

Though to be fair, there is a bit of a curve after Grove Street at the point where the track turns into the 33rd Street track but then switches back to the World Trade Center bound track
