Great video with great insight. Ive been having trouble deciding what method to use for printing my designs. I was attracted to the DTG option but its very expensive but allows full colour or do I start screen printing and build up. This was a great insight as to how easy it was to create the screen and seeing that you don’t have a large workshop was also very encouraging. I’ve got decisions to make!
@ByDerrickIm2 ай бұрын
Glad it was helpful! I always recommend people start with screen printing and once you start doing well and making some money selling your designs you can always upgrade! You can also get full color prints with screen printing using the CMYK printing methods! Yeah I hope to upgrade to a warehouse or something within the next year or so but for now doing it out of a spare room and have printed and shipped thousands of orders without a big shop so its definitely doable! Good luck to you!

Hey! Your video came up organically for me and wow, I love it!! I'm a garage screenprinter and have been wanting to get into just more than the neighborhood shirts for moms. Could you do a video explaining how you got onto TikTok for selling and also, I'm dying to know how to use one of those Rollo printers for getting orders. How do you know how much shipping is, what kind of baggies do you use, what shirts did you use for your TikTok shirts??? All of these questions have stopped me from going to the next step and I love how you are keeping it real with your set up and your organization. Most importantly, congrats!! Looks like you are doing awesome right now!! New subscriber on all the socials here!

For tiktok I started in maybe 2020 or so with my other brand skumbag society and just made the account last year for byderrickim and once tiktok shop came out decided to give that a try and it started doing well so I stuck with it! My best advice is to start posting something and your videos will keep improving as you learn what works and what doesn’t. As far as the rollo printer I just have the rollo app connected to my website so when I get orders they automatically get sent to my rollo account, on there it will show you the price of shipping before you click buy label and then can print the order. For things like t shirts Im able to have the weight of each size pre loaded into the system so I can batch them and print them together, as far as bags I just order poly mailers from Amazon, and for shirts I have made a video in the past about my favorite blank companies! Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and subscribing! 👍🏼

Good to know about TikTok--I'm an avid watcher but haven't posted but you've inspired me to do so as well and ramp up my social media presence. I'm anxious to get a Rollo printer too an just learn about the whole TikTok shop experience. Thank you for responding and giving such great info!! I really appreciate it!!

Is the Lane 7 hoodie soft and plush? Or does it feel similar to the LA apparel hoodie?

id say the lane 7 is softer compared to LAA, not quite as thick or heavy feeling as the LA apparel hoodie though

For doing it at home! How do you wash out your screen after you use it? I know we use a pressure washer and an emulsion remover, but wasn’t sure how to do it at home 😸
@ByDerrickIm4 ай бұрын
I do have a pressure washer I use sometimes, but most of the time I just scrub the screen with some emulsion remover and a scrub tool and then wash it out in the shower! Definitely want to upgrade to a washout booth when I have a warehouse or more space!

Awesome video and very informative. I look forward to more videos in the future. I was wondering how long each screen lasts before you have redo the emulsion process? And is it practical to only screen print 1 shirt at a time or do you recommend making several?
@ByDerrickIm4 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I would say a screen can last years without needing to re do it as long as you keep it clean! Iv printed over 500 shirts with one screen before over the course of months and its held up fine! For me I like to print as people order that way I don’t get stuck with a bunch of printed un sold inventory but its probably more efficient to print them all at once if you know you can sell them all!

whats the best way in photoshop to turn the black/grey into other color? Say i one to see the picture in white and red, how do i set up that color instead of black. Thanks.
@ByDerrickIm4 ай бұрын
There are a few ways to do this! You can play with the tint and saturation and warm it up or cool it down to try some colors, or you can also try messing with the color replacement tool, or you can create a hue/saturation layer, depending on what photo I think its best to play with different options and find what looks best!

I keep all the colored ink cartridges still loaded into the printer like normal! I just set my designs to black on the computer and then print it! I do tend to go through black cartridges faster than the others though since I mainly print in black.
