I never realized how different the original English version lyrics were compared to the translated Japanese version.

I'm obsessed with the drastic difference from Rem's canon design in the Manga and anime and musical Rem. Musical rem looks so elegant / like a classic depiction of a goddess but drawn Rem looks more like Ryuk 💀💀 not that I'm mad I love musical Rem's design I do like that it's different from Ryuk's since Shinigami's don't all look the same

Look at how they crawl around Upon the ground like little ants Yes, but how they fascinate, confusing fate With what is merely chance Isn't it a laugh? (Isn't it a shame?) Thinking there is someone in heaven to blame Yes, but even while blaming fate for the lives that they lead They hope for the lives that they need Living every day 'til the day they die Never getting answers (yet still asking, "Why?") Going through the motions as if there will be a reward While we stay eternally bored! They're only human They don't see, who they are is who they'll always be Only human, after all So they push and they shove With this thing they call love, 'til they fall! Isn't it a farce? (Isn't it a waste?) Struggling to face what can never be faced Yes, but maybe death can release something more than we share I really don't know and don't care They're only human Standing still Doomed to live pushing boulders uphill Only human, after all, so they give and they take Hoping someone will help break their fall They will pray, curse, live, die Never knowing their truth is another man's lie Eat, sleep, love, hate, like a leaf blowing in the wind Watch them all vacillate! They're only human They can't see All the years they could give you and me Only human, after all So they give and they take 'Til their silly hearts break Looking down from above I'm intrigued by their love So let's call Let's call!

To me, the vibes are so similar, yet so different than the English version. The lyrics to this one seem more sinister and melancholy, while the English version's lyrics give more of a vibe of toying or playing around with the concepts of little lives that don't matter too much. The Japanese version seems gives more of an angry disappointed parent type tone, or a tone of an evil mastermind wanting to take over the world, while the English version gives more of a bored godly tone, or a power trip vibe, if that makes sense! Even though both could be considered the same

Gotta say, the Japanese version is a lot darker than the English version. The English version is two beings observing humans for amusement. The Japanese one is one lamenting human life is tragic suffering while the other laughs at it and wants to screw with them for fun.
@coconuttydragoon34452 жыл бұрын
Ryuk finds it funny, like the mask of comedy mocking our aimless lives, Rem is the tragedy mask, pities how we live these simple lives. Ryuk said in the anime/manga, he finds us interesting for the sake of entertainment. Similar to how one view performers who act as clowns. Just to entertain his bored life Rem sees our lives as the poor tragic story that never has a happy end. We live, eat, then die. She sees it as one would pity an injured child or homeless pup, but offers little back.
