You need some heel stops bolted to the floor so your heels aren't right up against the frame. My CRG came with them. Comet has plastic and aluminum ones in stock.

You are the first person to call me "Pops"!!! : ) !!! I'll try the new cam, it has stabilization built in. Problem is, these cams get chewed up quick in the shop!!!!

Track day in August? Is this open to anyone? It would be a good kick in the butt to get my kart ready...
@F125yourselfАй бұрын
Didn't I include you in the mass email??? Yeah, August! We now have a track day every other month from April to October!!!! Its a Monday, Aug 26th. The price has gone up along with the lease. I just couldn't find more guys to keep it at the same price with the lease going up each time we go out there.

Test those Hoosiers at speed next to those side pods before you start hacking away. I've been running Hoosiers for years about that far away from my pods without any issues. Sorry about your sister.

Yeah I know!!! BOOM!!!! The Rod and Springs must go too. Cheatin the valves and rockers is 60/40, we eventually ran the Ducar/Clone at the indoor Kart Joint and used the Honda bits to make um safe. Then, of course, all the other $hit parts became the weak link. IF I take it off I'll set the pedal stop at 4500RPM and he should be ok.

Yessir... double doors! Good access. Had them in my basement shop in Virginia. Make sure to get the bolt locks at top and bottom.
@F125yourself2 ай бұрын
Good Advise. That back wall that the std door is on is not secure to the floor/concrete on the left side (hinge side). Not the full wall to the corner but at least the first foot or so. Opening it up may be a blessing!

We always run our kart in the middle setting on the rear axle. Car tracks are not always as even as kart tracks. Ours would rub all over the bottom with it low. Proceed with caution!
@F125yourself3 ай бұрын
It was a road racing shop/info, that said I'm sure I'll have to make adjustments to it. When we get her on the floor and set-up the nerf/pod attitude we'll look at it and find a starting point. I know on our Laydown we want them UP or cassettes down. It adds Pitch to the chassis and helps the kart not just turn in well but transfer weight forward quicker under braking. But, in my limited time in these karts, you dont use a hell of a lot of brakes to get around a road racing circuit!!!!

Why weld it? Keep it original and just put an Allen pipe plug in the threads with some sealer.
@F125yourself3 ай бұрын
This tank has the "CKS type" threaded bung's crimped in it. The entire insert was turning, once removed all we have left is wall thickness of the tank. Not enough to thread to hold a plug or fitting. Its welded now and reinstalled, he's ready to turn laps!!!

Yeah, big, HUGE lead..... and then it starts disappearing. Wins the race and Ernie asked what happened... Mark said "I was saving the engine Dad!" Unbelievable!!! Ernie jammin Ted Nugent working on karts in the evening..... too much fun! We both learned how to play poker in the back of their motorhome at the Clearfork Marina Camp Ground. Ernie, my Pop, Mark and I, using wooden matches to bet with..... Lesson: Its always easy to win when you are NOT playing with $$$!!!! 🤣 Man, I have a soft spot for "Bugles" to this day because of that weekend!!!!!

Had tears in my eyes watching this, Mark and Mike are /were great friends of ours. We lost Mark tragically many years ago , it seems like yesterday and it still hurts more than I can explain. I'm not ashamed to say I'm crying as I write this.The kart racing community is a tight knit group and when you lose someone that had such a bright future ,man it hurts. To our buddy Mark,we miss you brother. To Mike we love you brother and hope to see you soon . God bless all the racers out there.

I'm welling up just reading this, I have forgotten so much about Mark and to have some of it come rushing back was unexpected and emotional. I remember speaking to Ernie and Paula at the Station, I planted their flowers a couple times in the spring. I told them about the afternoon at Grattan when I won my first race, how I thought I saw Mark in the clouds. I said "You probably think I'm crazy huh?" They both hugged me and said No, we know how close you were and how he would have enjoyed sharing your success. Mark started long before I did, he was well seasoned before I got my feet wet so he was a great help to me, just getting used to the things that are 2nd nature and now pay no attention to. After the race at Waterford he came over and said "You weren't even trying, you have to trust your gut and just go!" Later he said he was sorry for being so critical but I knew he just wanted me to get faster so one day WE could race each other, unfortunately that never happened. Mark enjoyed winning, was fiercely competitive and did a good amount of it! He also was compassionate and wanted his friends to do well by motivating them.
