Bro, one of the main things to learn first is DOF of parts. Do you have any content regarding DOF in SW? e.g. If I wanna two spur gear mesh properly then they should contain only 1 DOF that need to be defined.

One of the best tutorials for Solidworks I've seen. This taught me so much more about Solidworks than my University did. Great Job!

I couldn't acess the drive files.?
@FlyingWalrus83 жыл бұрын
My sincerest apologies to you and the numerous others who have had this issue, for some reason in late April the access to the drive files was altered to restricted, I never made this change so I'm unsure how it occurred. I have updated it so anyone with the link can again access the drive files, and updated the link in the video bio.

I have two parts, a fan and its box shape hollow case. Fan should be in middle of case but not physically connected with it. How do I connect them or what mate should I use?
@FlyingWalrus83 жыл бұрын
You could use several distance mates to lock its location, or maybe try using the center mate somehow?

Hey! I've been trying to recreate your last demo about mechanical mates, but as soon as I try to gear mate the green crank handle with the yellow shaft, it shows "Please select from two different sub assemblies for mating". Any ideas on what I should do?
@FlyingWalrus84 жыл бұрын
This tutorial I made in Solidworks 2016 student edition (if I'm not mistaken). If you're using a newer version it could be that this mate is not necessary anymore and you can skip it by just having the shaft mated coincidently and concentrically with the crank handle then using a gear mate for the shaft and gear. Try this and see if turning the crank handle will also rotate the gear. If this works proceed with the other mates noting rotation direction and all should be fine.
@vishank74 жыл бұрын
@@FlyingWalrus8 it worked bud! Tho I dont understand why. Like why do we need to add the surface coincidence first to get the gear mate?

I appreciate how quickly you go over things, drives me crazy when tutorials linger for ages on something. I just wanna know the very basics, how does it work and what does it do! Also I love the names of some of the parts you have "dumb stuff" "even dumber stuff" same lmao. Take care

Jace Cockayne That was my goal when making the tutorial was cover everything, and make it quick and easy to understand, so I'm glad that I succeeded in doing so. Also yeah the part file names were just some good fun after cadding for a few hours, but yeah glad I could help!

will u please provide the parts files so that I can teach students similarly by inserting the parts
@FlyingWalrus86 жыл бұрын
So sorry I didn't see your comment sooner, I have all the files in a zip folder ready to be sent, you just have to let me know how you would like me to send them to you. Also note that the names of some of the parts are random. That's just because I was having fun while making all the parts for the assembly cause as you could expect it took a little while to do.
@FlyingWalrus86 жыл бұрын
I am adding a link in the video description to a google docs file with the whole assembly along with all parts, the file is set so that everyone should be able to download and edit the file.
