semi informal. Nobody makes videos for the unskilled workers, low to low-mid wage earners. reasonablly affordable Rentals for them and where they're located close to city transportation for them since the majority of them dont drive vehicles. Nobody makes videos for them. Its always just videos for the middle class and rich

Thanks for the info. I have a feeling with Portland being so small, it must be very hard to make friends, especially for older single people ? Also jobs must be very hard to find. It's a small city. I'd love to visit !

#1 Portland isn't "really" Maine.:) #2 It's also a small town as cities go. #3 You have to go a ways North of Bangor to be in "Maine" :)> #4 In Portland they roll up the sidewalks in September after the tourists go home. #5 The "real Maine" is only an hour or so away up North NE.

No need for a subway. & imo The best way to Boston would be the bus. It makes several trips daily.

Lake region bus goes from Portland to Brighton which also covers Windham Raymond Casco Naples, Boston is way bigger there's no way Portland could have a subway.......

Our Portland public transportation is our feet mostly 😂😂😂😂 you also get South Portland there's a bus that goes to Old orchard Beach there's buses that go to the Maine Mall South Portland Scarborough also Saco there's definitely plenty of public there's even buses that run you to Cape Elizabeth area more limited on most of these areas on the amount of buses but they still run more than just a few areas plus you have Concord bus that brings you all the way up to Bangor and all the way down to Boston

There are 2 things that make Portland bad…the winter and the politics. If you like liberal shitholes you will love Portland. Sadly, almost all of Maine has become North Massachusetts.

Believe it or not Tampa where I live is in the same boat. There’s buses and Uber/Lyft but there is no rail or subways. There’s Amtrak, but like in Portland, that would be more for going longer range than within the Tampa Bay Area. The difference is, while Portland has a small populations, the Tampa Bay Area has about 3-4 million people and everyone has to drive everywhere so there is always traffic jams and accidents. They are expanding some of the major roads around here, but by the time the projects are complete, with all the people moving here, they will need to expand them again to keep up. That’s the problem when everyone wants to move to a place.

Is there delivery from grocery stores to apartments? I don't have a car at all-- am considering Section 8 one bedroom in downtown Portland (preferably Old Port, but whatever), I am 72 years old, (would probably need parking space that came with apartment for relatives or guests). I am in Boston now, won a housing lottery 20 years ago (used to be a human services professional with Master's) and they can't kick me out unless the rent goes above the rent control board's approval. So I am really curious about how to feel secure spending my last years and not being worried about landlord kicking me out, losing a voucher, etc. I also used to spend summers in Midwest Maine and love the feel everywhere - beaches, small villages, etc, and wonder if there are services to drive you to places in or near Portland with beaches, etc. I love ar and music. My mobility is limited so when you talk about hills I need to be living nearer flat areas, or flatter! I really would consider any area that is not more than a 15 minute walk to water, shops, etc. or so that is safe and has a lot of resources. Any thoughts?

The globalist billionaire investors have RUINED the uniqueness of our once charming little city by the bay. It will never satisfy those seeking to move here from San Francisco when they realize there's not much here. Unfortunately many of the locals are being forced out and can't afford the rents or property taxes.

Can Humans be Tamed? We need to develop ourselves as human beings beyond our animate level of existence, and it is possible with a certain kind of education. Developing ourselves as human beings means learning and balancing ourselves with the integral laws of nature operating on our lives. If we learn how to positively connect among each other in human society, with altruistic attitudes replacing our current egoistic attitudes, we then develop ourselves beyond the animate level of existence and become human beings in the fullest sense of the term. First, we need to provide for our animate lives, giving our physical bodies the food, sex and family that they require, then after taking care of those essentials, we can begin our human development. We then need to learn who and what we are, where we are from, why we exist, how we can develop ourselves, how we can control our human development, what our attitude to our surrounding society should be, what society’s attitude should be toward us, and how we can develop together harmoniously, i.e. us in relation to society, and society in relation to us. We need to supply ourselves with this development that will make us human beings. Unfortunately, I see nobody understanding what it means to develop a human being, and we thus fail to realize such a process. One of the outcomes of our lack of development into human beings is our inability to understand the younger generation. We become increasingly detached from them, and do not know what will happen with them or how to guide them in a beneficial direction. We thus let life unfold as it does, into a proliferation of problems and crise. Very simply, we need to learn what nature wants from us, and to develop in order to balance with nature’s demands toward us. If we meet those demands, we can then build a harmonious and peaceful world, one that is in balance with nature.
