She sang live during shooting but do people realize that in the editing process, they usually put the studio recording? That’s how most singing in movies/tv shows work. You can even tell it’s the studio recording because it sounds the same as when you listen to it on Spotify. It’s still good nonetheless, but what’s in the Final Cut of the movie, is not her live version.

Sad, Ariana couldn’t use her real, specific and unique style of singing in this movie. I guess it was a price to pay for both talents to get cast in the movie. Yes, Ariana and Cynthia can sing, but these are what I call ‘beautifully boring performances’. Kristen Chenowith and the producers ‘might’ be happy (?),but I I believe if Ariana and Cynthia had been allowed, we would have had some really interesting, contemporary and soulful musical performances in this movie.
