Have only used live bait for years and over all a big fishing noob, wanted to learn how to actually fish, this helped a lot 🤙

After many years of fishing, I've caught bass and other predator species on everything from jigs, poppers, rapalas....but I've NEVER caught a fish on a spinner bait. And I have dedicated DAYS to only using and learning the ins and outs with successful buddies buuut it's just not in the cards for me haha.

This is the best Topwater bait I’ve ever used and you can fish it in so many different ways, walking, popping, and letting it sit on surface and spin they can’t stand it. It’s critical to rig it the way you did coming out past the chin. Use the Mustad Grip Pin hooks it keeps the hook from sliding down. This bait kills it during the spawn just fish it slowly. This is the best video I’ve seen for the pop Shadz. Excellent video Nick.

#17 lb line my God. I use 8=10 lb on top water lures.

I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

Just lost about 100 feet of line and a brand new $50 spinner bait… If you snag and manage to retrieve your lure, make sure to check the fishing lines condition.

When you say fish the worm or creature bait on the bottom slowly, how slow is slow and how fast is too fast?.

A medium rod for top water with 17-20 pound mono????? How about medium heavy with 25lb mono or a mono leader on braid. A medium pole with light line just seems like the ones I’m after are either snapping that pole or breaking that line of the explosive top water hits.
