Problem is if it did it once it's going to do it again. Happend 3x same seat unti lI finally Epoxied it to the metal fork and ran some zipties around the seat frame near it to keep it pushed in. These screw up on all 4Rs....as do the power lock motors. Get the motors off amazon and learn how to take apart the actuators to get motors swapped....$8 insyead of 600.00

Wait so the rear seats do go down flat? 😮😮😮 OMG I’ve been wondering about this since day 1. I have. 19’ and it only leans forward. Could have sworn the salesman said it does not go down all the way! Why would Toyota not disclose this??

Now you know the fix ! Let us know if you were able to fix it yourself? You're going to love having those seats fold down flat when you want to transport something large!

@@Unplugged704 Fantastic news !! I used to own a minivan for all our camping and backcountry trips... although you can't beat the cargo space of a minivan, the extremely low clearance to the ground would result in scraping the back hitch and bottoming out in just the slightest pot holes. Drove me nuts. Not with the 4Runner !! LOVE the high clearance and also look forward to sleeping in it soon.

Thanks for that. I watched other videos where the other cable attachment came loose but mine was good so I thought it was up top at the lever. You saved me from ruining my seat.

Good info, just to add, it isn't a Philips screw, there are no Philips screws on Toyota's. They are all JIS. Philips screwdrivers sort of work but they damage the heads.

wow... I had never heard of a JIS screwdriver until now! Thanks for the info !!
