I’m looking for a small action camera, not for action, but to record family and fun and also for daytime walks and walks at night in the city lights. Mostly POV walks. I’m also going to use it specifically to record inside malls and shopping centers. I already have a pocket 3 which is amazing, and a GoPro which is great for sunny skies but fails in low or artificial light. I was waiting on the ace pro 2, but I think I’m leaning towards the action 5 now, as a sidekick to my beloved pocket 3. Do you think it could film at evenings and inside places like malls without jitter and with accuracy in the mixed light? Do you recommend it?

Yea, I think the DJI Action 5 Pro make sense, with the bigger sensor. From my tests it seems like Action 5 can go higher in the ISO and remaining relatively clean. I found that the Action 4 became very noisy quite fast if you bumped up the ISO. There is also this night mode I haven’t tested yet. But I kept the Action 5 Pro and sold my Action 4 so I will keep testing! Find me on insta and I can make custom test video for you 👍😊

I agree. I ended up at this review because I thought I was crazy because I hated the ending. I had to look it up because I figured there was some "artistic" meaning that I was missing. Apparently, there was because the overwhelming consensus was the ending was awesome. To me, it felt like the writers went on strike before they finished and someone else just threw an ending on there. I don't know, it just did not do it for me.

Check under your RAW tab in Color page, switch the dropdown list to clip ( i think it is calles, not in front of resolve right now ) - now furrher down you can change how you want to interpret the CinemaDNG file. I usually go for the Blackmagic film option 👍

I have an alternate idea for you here that is very easy and uber-cheap; Attach a carry-strap to your camera so you can just hold the camera by the strap and carry it around, it is super-smooth! And if you walk like a Ninja (with small but soft fluid-moving steps, ...like how a geisha moves on stage) it makes it even smoother. I used to follow my cat around, filming him from HIS perspective and it was easy to change elevations from the ground all the way up to my 6-feet head height! I KNOW it sounds ridiculous, BUT I SWEAR IT WORKS, and I even showed the DOP & cameramen (on shows when I was as a stuntman) and they LOVED it! But Shhhh! It's still a trade secret!
@martinleonlindstedt
@martinleonlindstedt 26 күн бұрын
Hahaha, now what if the strap was stretchy, like a rubberband? .. maybe it would even more isolate the camera from the hands? maybe we are on to something here! PATENTPENDING!! 😂
@Tenshihan-Quinn
@Tenshihan-Quinn 26 күн бұрын
@@martinleonlindstedt I tried a flexible belt too, but it added unwanted 'bounce' when changing elevations, ....I was surprised how smooth it turns out just using a regular strap! The strap was connected to the front and back of the camera, so forward and backward movement were easy, and rotation was ok too, but you will get a feel for the motion you want naturally within a few minutes of practicing. Your own arm naturally 'stabilizes' much like a chicken-neck keeps the animals head stable when moving them around. (I KNOW this sounds silly, but I am SO very serious, it really works amazingly and easily!) Please give it a try, even just fooling around you WILL see it and say to yourself "HOLY CRAP!, it works!"

@4:30 = Yes, that big Rock might need glowing Runes ;) @5:56 = You also have that handy camouflage netting to break up the Fresnel light! Overall it's a gorgeous location! I can't wait to see the backgrounds fogged up with the "Mists of Avalon" coming through the trees! Something I've always wanted to see again since seeing Excalibur (1981) was they actually lit the forest with green floodlights! It really made it look magickal - IT WAS AMAZING! I figure nowadays you could have a powerful LED equivalent that has the ability to change ALL colours using Red Blue Green that you can 'tint' your surroundings with by using them as ambient lights, key-lights, etc. (I know you could do it in post - but having practical effects is so much fun to work with, and helps your actors FEEL the scene so they can really get into character.) Ok, I'm shutting up now! Hahah!
@martinleonlindstedt
@martinleonlindstedt 26 күн бұрын
Haha, glowing runes and maybe boss music?? 😂 Oh, thats right! That would cool, to get some shadows across my actors with my camo-net. These trees are huge and all the branches are way up so I can't reach them with my fresnel. I would love to bring some haze into the forrest, but again - don't want to bring too much gear with me, it's like 20min of walking to this location. But I'm looking into if I can add haze in post instead. You should never fix stuff in post .. except when you are an indie filmmaker with no budget but all the time in the world to work on your own project 😂 I'm gonna have a look at Excalibur, sounds like an interesting technique, lighting the forrest with green light. I can imagine the grass and the greens would really "pop" out of the image, almost like it is self-luminous!
@Tenshihan-Quinn
@Tenshihan-Quinn 26 күн бұрын
@@martinleonlindstedt Boss music! Hahah! But seriously, yes to Runes, you could use UV paint on the Rock so it only shows up when you illuminate them with UV light. In the movie C.H.U.D. (1984) they used a beam-splitter to film through, so the light source was coming from the same angle as the camera itself, and they used it to light the creatures eyes, (The back of the monsters 'retinas' were painted with reflective paint like what they use for stop-signs), but it would look fantastic for Runes! Yes to Excalibur! It's a beautifully shot film and will definitely inspire you! It was also my first time seeing Patrick Stewart AND Liam Neeson. About fogging your scene; Other than having to start shooting at dawn when there MIGHT be natural fog, ...On set of Excalibur they were placing fire-proof containers that had bundles of smoke-producing oiled shrubbery that smolders, but doesn't burst into flames - all around the forest - but hidden behind the trees so they weren't directly visible to the camera. Like 'incense' on steroids - haha! Edit: Oh man, I just realized you said it's a 20 min walk to that location, ...yeah, bringing extra gear is going to be tough. You need a pack-mule! ;)

Dude, I am SO EXCITED by the entire premise you have outlined! SO MUCH can happen! If you haven't worked out all the script yet, ...perhaps you CAN have the original idea of 'set back in time' as just sections of FlashBacks to ancient times, and then have your modern protagonist encounter the same AREA, and therefore have moments of 'temporal crossover' whereby they are either seeing through time, or even get caught up in an envelop of moving time that displaces them momentarily, or even permanently - thereby setting them as the original author of the Stories they themselves heard all their lives - from the past! Gah! So many ideas are crawling around in my head! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU MAKE NEXT, MARTIN!

Very cool, sir! The story idea reminds me of the 2018 mystery thriller, The Isle. Also, since you're talking about Swedish folklore, I could see you making a Predator fan film centering around said folklore. On a side note, I had an idea that you could use for your short film, Alien: Infestation, if you choose to expand it to a feature length film in the future. It came to me recently when I was commenting on a screenwriter's channel about how the Alien franchise can get back on track. I was mentioning that the franchise needed to scale back. For your film, here's how the idea would play out: The opening to the film would be a medium shot from the street of an unknown, small building. Then, cut to an extreme close up on the building, focusing on large yellow lettering, WY. Underneath, the slogan, "Building Better Worlds." Suddenly, an unmarked car pulls into the parking lot. Two men emerge from the vehicle, but we only see their feet. Fade to the inside of a dark laboratory, glass everywhere. Emergency lighting casts an eerie glow on the room. The men investigate the lab, discovering a grisly scene: disfigured bodies and blood like a river of crimson covering much of the floor. They're startled by a strange sound. They rush around the corner to catch a glimpse of the creature busting through an emergency door, into the night. They share a look of dread. The older man pulls a phone from his pocket. His conversation is muted as a cold breeze drowns out the sound (like in Aliens with Newt). Then, we would cut to the opening of part one. How does that sound? Thanks for all you do, my friend!

@martinleonlindstedt Ай бұрын
Thanks man! I’m definitely going to check out The Isle, thanks for the tip! Oh, your idea actually is very close to what I had in mind for a Alien Infestation prequel! I would love to flesh out how the creature came to basement, and also funny you should mention - if I made like 3 more episode I could maybe combine all these short films into a complete feature film! That is really tempting 😊 Wonder what Disney would say about that 😂

Ever since I saw your movies when they came out, I loved them and I can't stop referencing them in the ALIEN groups that I participate in or the one I moderate. Your films have been a perfect example on how to demonstrate the Aliens starting a worldwide infestation on Earth. The films have the best level of tension, horror, and overall delivery. The end of this 2nd film when Amanda and Simon leave the apartment building, in no moment made me feel like they were safe, in fact it made me feel like they got out of the building, but they are now going to see how others are being affected by this. Sort of how the Zombie apocalypse started in Zack Snyder's DAWN OF THE DEAD began. I'm an ALIEN fan for many years, and it is a dream of mine making films like this, so I am so happy to say that these films have better quality than even the last two Ridley Scott films, because you knew exactly to tell a story with minimum dialogue, connect with characters and make them emotionally investing, and the Alien was perfectly used, not just a mindless beast. May you make many more and I hope to one day be able to do so too.

Wow, man, thank you so much for your comments, I'm always blown away when my Alien fan fiction is able to resonate like this with fellow Alien fans 🙏😊 I made these shorts because it was something I wanted to see myself so I'm so glad there are others out there enjoying what I created 🥳 That's a really cool idea, when the couple exit the building and they find themselfs in this silent, eerie city - like "where is everybody"? I'm thinking 28 days later! 😊 The whole town is overrun by Xenos and all the people are being abducted to the huge hive under the city. With all the positive comments coming in it really motivates me to start developing a Alien:Infestation Part III 😊👍 Thanks again, my friend!

@@martinleonlindstedt I'm just being honest and I can see great story telling. A story doesn't need that much dialog when it is good, but can still deliver a message. It has the same principle as a comic book, where a story can be told in the panels without the dialog itself. And as an ALIEN franchise fan, and seeing other ALIEN fan films, yours definitely resonated, but also delivered very well. I've had my own stories to tell as simplistic as these but unable to have them worked on, so I just illustrate them, but definitely your just hit the perfect spot, especially since I have always wanted to see a live action start of a Xenomorph Infestation on Earth. Many would love the James Cameron approach, but I think that a combination of the first 3 films' tones have always been the best approach. And this is exactly what your short films were able to do, especially not making the Alien as simplistic mindless monster, but an actual Alien creature of unknown intelligence. You also used the ALIENS Alien Warrior design as the ALIEN Big Chap and that also was so well done. So needless to say, my appreciation is genuine but also objective in the light of Subjectivity.

Hey Martin, good review, agree with pretty much everything you said about the movie. Also liked your plot ideas, particularly about swapping out the main protagonist. A couple of things: Rain didn't take the black goo concoction, it was only Kay who injected it. Even so, pretty unclear why....I guess she was too weak to get back to the ship on her own? There were a lot of dumb and unexplained things in the movie. Why would WY leave a huge, expensive space station floating in the orbit of a backwater mining world? They could have had a subplot that the kids were set up to go to station by WY to retrieve the black goo. Regarding the 'Get away from her' line, it was just pure fan service. There were lots of lines from the other movies: "I prefer the term artificial person myself" "Bring back life form, Priority One. All other priorities are rescinded." "I can't lie to you about your chances but, you have my sympathies." "Perfect organism" "Busy little creatures"

Oh, thanks for clarifying, man! I remember there was this scene where we see a girl taking the compound, and I assumed that was Rain but makes totally sense that it was Kay. Of course! Haha, yea - it is wierd why WY would leave the station abandoned like that. They have been putting in all the resources and energy into retrieving this perfect organism. But now, with this spacestation - they just don't care anymore - just so the movie can happen. 😆 Oh - my - god. If those lines are just fan service, especially "get away from her you b*tch" .. that is just.. terrible .. terrible. Unforgiving really. It must have been some studio mandate, putting these in.. 🤯

As an Alien fan, watching this film was an absolute thrill and deeply satisfying. The movie is filled with numerous nods to the previous films, and the pacing and content are excellent. Experiencing the "weightlessness" in an IMAX theater was especially impressive. Although this specific technique used may not be groundbreaking, the director executed certain shots with precision. Wow, thank you so much man! 😊 I can't deny that I have a couple of ideas for a new Infestation Part III, perhaps someday I will make it come true :)

@@martinleonlindstedt *Me everyday; "Is it SOMEDAY, yet?" Hahah! Here I am AGAIN after re-watching your short-film playlist for the 20th time! I'm excited for your new film-concepts but also can't wait for another one of these Alien films by You, Martin - because You TRULY understand Suspense and it's rightful place in Horror. (Not many others really GET this - everyone else just uses 'jump-scares' which I am immune to because they always feature a set-up which I can see through.) However, in Your films you make the creatures have character, and they come out of the darkness so effortlessly and Quickly - there is no time to run, only time for your heart to STOP and the fear to take over, ...it makes your creations feel like an unstoppable force of nature, not just a 'monster' that might somehow be defeated. I wish I was there helping you with your next projects!

Why are these people so dumb in scary movies?

Martin, thanks for the review. I'm glad you gave a balanced review, again from a filmmaker's standpoint. For me, I can't bring myself to watch this film. And it's not because of the scariness or violence factor. I never got the right kind of vibe about this film and to me, the trailers showed way too much from a narrative standpoint. I think this would have worked better as a fan short film. To be honest, I would have rather watched a feature film version of your fan film! The reason being is that your film dealt with a simple situation, nothing complicated. But, through your use of lighting and setting, the atmosphere was creepy, and the narrative was well done. And speaking of short fan films, please be sure to check out Alien: Monday.

Thank you so much for the kind words man! :) I realised when I said I wanted more Alien Isolation in Alien Romulus, I am basically asking it to be more like my own shortfilms, haha! 😂 not in any egotistical way but when it comes to creative work you usually make stuff that you want to see yourself, and that is very true how I approached my alien fanfiction, I wanted the sneaking and hiding :) Ooooh, yea I saw Alien:Monday - such an amazing animated short, I enjoyed every second of that one!! 🥰

Great movie! I like that bit about the lighter not working. I love candles, too, and it always seems like those things never work right. I hope she survives. Are you going to do more on this? I for one hope so! Could you please tell me what language this is in? Regardless, it’s great with subtitles, too!

@@DanetteScheel Wow, thanks man! So glad you liked it! 😊 Haha, yeah the lighter never working is a pet peeve, and I tried establish already in the beginning that the lighter is unreliable. The movie is in Swedish, and if you want to see more, there is a Part II here on the channel 👍😊

Did you know about Ossë and Uinen and how Numenor goes down. The sea is always right my friend and don't you ever disrespect Tolkien's lore. Thanks for boosting the Rings of Power Algorithm tho 🥰

Thanks man! :) Yes, I know the fate of Numenor, but are you saying that Tolkien actually wrote the line "The sea is always right"? 😯

@@martinleonlindstedt even Isildur didn't like the saying 🤷 hey I didn't at first but they are clearly referring to the gods that they can't mention because of the Silmarillion rights. Did u stop and think who is calling to him when he's looking out at sea. Pharazon does mention the main point which is the mortal life over the King too.
