When Goku hit his head, he didn't become good, he became a blank slate. Gohan taught him to be respectful. Bulma taught him to be social. Roshi taught him hard work. Android 8 taught him mercy.

I sometimes feel bad for kid Krillin- imagine the crushing disappointment he must have felt time and again as a child, giving it his best to compete with a monkey-like boy with the intellect of a squished orange who, with effortless ease invariably bested him in everything, while not knowing that he was actually trying to out-rival an alien freak from another planet. I bet Krillin must have felt reassured after learning of Goku's extraterrestrial origins.

Goku treated Krillin with such love that Krillin never really grew bitter towards Goku for being his better. He quickly came to see him as a close friend and ceased to truly care who was better. At least that's how it seemed to me

Chichi was damn lucky that adult Goku was alot tamer else she wouldn't stay in one piece to regret when she insulted Gohan regardless of the fact that his father in law and son was there! Gohan was the reason Goku is even alive! He was both mom and dad for Goku and no ones knows it better than him that's why he loves him the most and think so highly of him. My parents are far from great but if my partner ever insulted them even a tiny bit I'd make sure she'd regret that the rest of her life.
