Thanks! I was having no luck finding that diverter seal for my Delta sawyer spout...your video was a huge help with the danco part number. Now I just have to figure out how to get the diverter off this Delta Sawyer tub spout without breaking anything so I can replce the seal. It has a blind pin holding the pull "knob" onto the shaft with very little room to grab it and work it out.

This video saved me a plumber bill. It is the same spout as the Delta that I have. The only difference was the adapter going to the water supply, but that was of no consequence to the repair. Keep up the good work!!

I am having problem trying to remove the screw with an Allen wrench in the handle. The screw are way too tight. I have tried using WD40 to lime away. Yet it’s still not coming off…. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks
@DaveRosenthal-h4m Жыл бұрын
Thanks for this. If the top handle is stubborn and won't unscrew from the metal pin, you can still disassemble the diverter without removing that handle. See kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJ-shJaIqK93d6M I had to do it this way and it was easier than expected to reassemble after subjecting the disassembled parts to a two-minute CLR bath, which is all I needed to get the diverter to function properly again.

Excellent video. I have a similar Delta faucet, and Delta customer service sent me replacement valves for both sides. They are the same part number as the valve in your video. The two replacement valves are identical with nothing indicating left or right, so I am assuming that is why you emphasized taking a picture of the old valve before removing it and then matching the position of the replacement valve at installation time. Also thanks for the demonstration on cleaning the mineral build-up using CLR.

Why not just use struts with a spring preassembled? They're called quick struts I believe. More money but much less worry and work.
@labpartnerlp Жыл бұрын
They're generally far less quality, both the strut and the spring. The OEM spring generally resists rust and last forever. I've put on aftermarket moog springs that have rusted out after 2 years.
@tomy2t0ne3 Жыл бұрын
I just replaced my struts with kyb preassembled struts and I've had nothing but trouble. The struts began binding as soon as i drove it out of the garage. I unfortunately threw away the original struts so now I have to figure out how to make mine work. Like he says, rebuild your struts and use as much of the original equipment as possible.

Yep. Mine is smooth inside too. But there is a screw hidden behind the switch. Once you pop the switch off, the Phillips screw is easily removed. The assembly pops out the front like his on the video.

On this model where it’s smooth in front, gently pry up on the switch from the HOSE side of the head. Remove the Phillips head screw and slide out front. To remove plunger, use a thin small flat head screwdriver to slide the clip out to the side (easy to see once apart). Then you can slowly and gently pull out plunger assembly. Clean as described. Slowly but firmly push plunger until it slides out of surrounding case. Clean. I then put JUST A LITTLE food grade silicon lube on the plunger assembly as it was still not moving smoothly after cleaning. After that, it’s working quite well now. You can actually test pretty easily without reassembling the entire spray head.
@donnaastiz507222 күн бұрын
@@himikeb1 this was helpful to get the switch out, but now I cannot get the switch to fit back in once the spray head was cleaned out. The two prongs in front slide around the little piston, but the rear of the switch won’t pop back in.
