If this is hydrophilic it is useless, it will quickly get gunked up with dissolved junk from the rain spoiling the properties we are after.

There is something I don't understand about this sunlight reflecting strategy : What happens in winter ? Doesn't the higher reflectivity mean the house will have to use more energy to keep warm during winter (therefore cancelling the efficiency benefits you get during summer) ?

how does it work in between and winter? I guess it should be a net positiv but how much energy from the sun is actually absorbed by the roof etc.? The other thing is how to avoid dirt on it, reducing the effect and! would there be a negativ on light pollution or 'reflections' e.g. into the windows of other people...

I use the "martingale strategy" with a horse racing system which I compiled over a 12 month period of testing and refining until my strike rate averaged 82%. I opened accounts with 6 separate online bookies. My racing system averages 2 to 5 selections a day. My first bet is with bookie no.1. If it loses I double the bet on my next selection with bookie no.2. If that loses I double again with bookie no.3 and if I have to, bookie no.4 doubling the bet yet again. ie: £10 (1) , £20 (2), £40 (3), £80 (4), £160 (5). I have NEVER had a losing day (touch wood). In fact, I prefer losing my first two bets as my payout is larger on bets 3, 4 or 5. Once I win a bet that day, I stop betting even if my 1st selection was the one that won. I NEVER carry on betting with my remaining selections. Greed is the demise of many a man and the reason so many gamblers lose their shirts.

You don't have to wait for this new technology. In the US, and North America, you can "lime wash" your building. It goes a bit further than just painting it white and it less prone to issues.

Wait… so if a solar flare wiped out half of the north arctic ozone layer in 1972 then how did a study in the mid 70s claim it was human activity that caused its depletion??? Because it’s all BS and it was about control! A solar flare is more believable then a can of hairspray depleting the ozone.

I had a black dog and when he laid in the sun he would absorb so much light he was so hot to the touch. I now own an all white husky and he can lay in the noon sun for half an hour and he’s very cool to the touch.

Lets say 10kW over 0.5km of atmosphere is slightly different scale then 2GW over 100km of atmosphere. To scale those things up might not be as easy as they claim. So first put a smaller model up in space and show that your technology is holding the promises and then we get in discussion if it is worth the cost.

Thanks! What if we look at the time as non-existent, like if we have a movie on a video cassette, which can be played forward or rewound and played again. Or edited and played again, how can characters know about previous timeline that had happened before they changed the past? Ok, they remember that there was different past, not influenced from the future, but their memories are not valid anymore. Because the former frames have been rewritten 🙂

Then the pollen, dust, pollutants, and rain mineral deposits destroy its properties in a year....However, its effectiveness is irrelevant, as governments will simply mandate them once the right wheels are greased.

I don't think finding cooling solutions through this method is really necessary. I think the best way is to harness the heat from the sun (or any surface that is producing the heat) and convert it into energy that would cool any area of choice. This method could be a fall back solution, if the conversion fails.

basicly this challange is a classical the more you know the less you know. Even if you have the basic challange of sustaining a fusion reaction, then you need to find a state where you have gain, then you have to find a way to extract the gain that is providing net result, then you need to build a system that lasts, then you need to build a system that is economical. and having so many steps between a theory, proto type, fuctional test reactior, commercial reactor is i feel expotentionally more difficult making this ETA almost impossible to estimate.

Not an angle described on this video: a porous surface in exterior location gets dirty fast. Porous get filled very easy on polluted environments. Also on location where rain transport sand (areas near deserts). Porous get fill up and microbiota and after that plants start to get advantage of a great surface prepared for roots development. Thank you for the contribution!

Ben, I think that you have threaded the needle with interesting topics Without drowning the all the realities in Hype, Well done you. However, while I realize neither of us are ethicists, I can't help being concerned by the LACK of consideration stories like this one ignore. Like all fans of what has now become widespread Feral (amoral/ bordering on immoral) capitalism. A wiser man than me once noted that “if you believe in endless growth in a finite world, then you are either delusional or an accountant”. (or something like that) 🤔. Now, Accountants have a concept of called Opportunity Cost (What other benefits could the expenditure achieve) Now If I can remember my accounting theories (slabs of moist clay with a weed stylus) Capitalism was based on a level playing field. (hah!) And the other key principle was that high returns = high risks. To day Feral Capitalism is based on the lowest hanging fruit and manipulation of the market (stocking is based on the economic Prado effect, read sell what makes the most Profit, regardless of whether the item suits the customer's NEEDS or not) and stock as near to the most profitable 20% as you can get away with. In this process, you choose the most lucrative market/ customer… run an emotional series of selling the sizzle, not the steak. Or more appropriately, potable water food and say electric light for those who don't have them. As an ex exec, I know if this technology works, the beneficiaries will be the Rich 20% of the world's' population. So they can buy more consumerist (unnecessary)Crap. Wait, it gets much darker. You said they could get this box into space with only 60 something launches. Now consider this have you any idea how much fuel is burnt in a launch, how about the issue of damage to the atmosphere, (Anthropomorphic Climate Change). Who do you think are most vulnerable to the negative effects of ACC ? If you said the the 20% who don't have reliable life sustaining resources. Back to the once off usage of finite resources, many of them are gotten at severe risk to the workers more if they're exotic. Now, if we revisit those 20% and consider the impact on them NOT GETTING THAT MONEY! How may death from curable diseases, from lack of clean water, the deaths, and suffering from abnormal weather/ starvation wars of hunger. I'm not convinced that all that is worth more electric Nik Naks version X That we have lived without for eons. That will join all the other used once but never again “Sounded like a good idea at the time” obsolete nik naks version W that even the Thrift shop doesn't want. I'm not panicking. But neither can I look the other way, I know too much to block it out.
