You can also "choke" the spoke with your left hand, if you have a good feel for distance. I've been roping since I was 5. I don't know when or where I developed that. Maybe it just came naturally? At 59 years old, it's something I don't even think about when I throw.

Evidently, Mr. Masters has thought A LOT about where his tip is located. Personally, I have always roped on "feel". Maybe that's why I'm sitting at home in my recliner and he's out there making $100k a year?????????
