It sounds like allergy. I had itchiness and soreness with slow growth on my crown. That's not alopecia; the hair is thick with chronic breakage; so the hair is weak. Of course, a derm or trichologist is best to have a close look, given steroid to calm the area, and make a definite diagnosis. What I was use Living Proof scalp care (expensive), available online for several month to balance the microbiome of my scalp and had almost immediate relief of the itchiness and soreness. I would not use oils right away. Highly recommended product for chronic flaking, dandruff, seborrheic derm. Most scalp issues are chronic inflammation from an imbalance of the microbiome on your scalp.

I just now came across this video and I know it a month old but i feel compelled to comment anyway... To me, it not alopecia...the way you described "intense/excruciating" itch..you may be dealing with eczema. I experienced it at one point in the middle of my head and I had patches of eczema on my arm and legs as well and that was back in 2010-2012... Just know that it can be stress and diet but do check with trichologist to be sure. Your locs look great and that area can grow back out once healed. Dont give up 🙏🏽

I don't think its alopecia your root is thick ! It could be the hair you use , I just saw a woman with a big bandage on her forehead and she said she brought a Human hair wig she had to go to a doctor and they say it the dye they use on the hair. So maybe cut off the added hair and see what happen .

I had this very same thing happen to me with my traditional locs. I ended up combing them out because there was no way I could hide it anymore after a certain point. I experienced the excruciating itch as well. I have a friend who is a trichologist and from her observation said I had telogen effluvium which is a form of alopecia. It’s stress induced (emotional stress as well as physical stress we put on our hair). She recommended very low manipulation and low tension styles, keeping my hair clean (I wash once a week now) and taking my iron supplements since I have anemia as well which can also cause hair loss. I also stopped mixing oils and products that I would put on my scalp. The most important, I had to learn how to effectively manage my stress! My crown has grown back so full! Last year it was literally not even a pinch of hair left in my crown and same time this year it’s thick and a little over 4 inches long. During this time I only used 2 things in my scalp the mielle rosemary oil and Camille rose rejuva drops for alopecia. Hope this helps ❤

If you haven’t you should see a dermatologist and a trichologist asap. Don’t let denial make a issue a problem. Good luck!

Maybe combining in those areas can help? Or combine your full head to create a stronger base for each loc? My hair has been thinning in areas even before establishing my locs so thinning is definitely a fear of mine. But if my locs start thinning or looking stressed at the root, I’d combine them for strength. Dermatitis can cause hair thinning. Especially if left untreated. That could also explain your itching. I have psoriasis on my scalp. That causes your follicles to fall out at a quicker rate. That is a big contributor of my thinning. And sometimes the follicles don’t grow back. I’ve had it since I was a child. We just all need to give ourselves grace.

I would consult a trichologist or dermatologist. African American if possible. I’ve been locked for over 20 years. The only times I experienced severe itching was due to allergy to product. It may have something to do with your styling. Don’t ignore the itching

I don’t think that is alopecia, because the hair normally falls out at the root. You don’t have scalp showing. I would have a consultation with a Loctitian for suggestions. Pauline at En Toi does online consultation, she may have videos on this. But don’t claim Alopecia rebuke that.
@ImKierraLin

I don’t want to claim alopecia. I just have no idea why it’s thinning in that only area where I have the dents and itchiness, but I will definitely check out your recommendation.

Do you notice any damage or anything? Also how do you maintain the colored hair?
@ImKierraLin
@ImKierraLin 10 ай бұрын
No haven’t experienced any dryness on damage. I like to use the professional colors rather than the box dye. Box dye tends to cause dryness. Also I don’t shampoo to often if I feel my hair needs a quick wash I would use the Auntie Jackie co wash to keep the moisture. Also using oil that helps locks in the moisture like black castor, grapeseed or jojoba oil.

I'm wondering if the breakage has more to do with the hair dye you used, particularly since it seems to come from where the dye ends. I'm so sorry they fell out. the hair close to your scalp looks healthy and strong -- it will grow back stronger and better!

Ok...if you don't mind, let me tell from what i just saw, you said youre using a 3-point rotation...right? For a 3-point...You should doing... Up, Side, Down, Side, Up, Side, Down... From what just watched...You did, Up, Side, Down, Then Up, Side, Down! When you went Down, the you went UP. Meaning you went Down, but turned around and went up thru the same whole, which will create HOLES IN YOUR LOCS😮. Please be careful doing the 3-point turn!!😮

Mmmmmmm you sound like you following bad advice,Have you listened to Olivia Alexa or even kevin samuels. Do you have a pastor or spiritual mentor. You have kids with this man and you not bashing him. That means something is off with your prorities. Seriously if he was giving you the best he could and was not abusing you and was loving his kids. To have kids with him in 7years thats serious. Maturity most times you will have to make hard sacrifices for a healthy kids upbringing. These times are hard and its not times to chase fairytales. The gentleman & your kids are real. You are blessed you could have kids and have a man that loves you. Most times relationships will be boring and work but thats maturity. Who are you trying to get your life to be like to walk away from your family. The Devil destroys families please becareful what voices you listening too..... if he has a job and is doing his best celebrate that man cook for that man,pray for that man,speak life and things you would love him to be into his life. You cant get out of a man what you didnt invest. Where you always wanting this and wanting that instead of giving to him and giving to him. A selfish life is a very distructive life we not in the world to please ourselves but to please the creator. We meant to be of service....
