such good recommendations! I just finished Margaret Atwood's Penelopiad and Madeline Miller's Galatea and LOVED the portrayals of these overlooked, blamed, and completely nameless (as Galatea was only called "the women" originally) women from their own perspectives.

Thanks for bringing attention to the title! This gripping historical mystery inspired by the life and diary of Martha Ballard, a renowned 18th-century midwife will be a hit with mystery lovers. So many great historical fiction out there-any other suggestions? We love to hear other thoughts!

Terrific interview! Rachel Harrison had been on my radar for the last couple of years, but I didn't get around to her (so many books to read!) until about a month ago when I picked up Black Sheep. I'm officially a fan. She had me on Page 1 - a clear sign you're in the presence of great writing. I tore through it. I'm about 40 pages in to The Return and I already love it and can't wait to see where it goes. Cackle, Such Sharp Teeth and Bad Dolls will follow, and then I'll have to wait with the rest of you for So Thirsty. I'm playing catch-up here, but binge-reading newly discovered authors that you love is as enjoyable as binge-watching shows you were a little late to...just takes a bit longer. Also, I would add C.J. Tudor to the list of outstanding female authors of the genre. Her most recent, The Drift, was a beast!

In another video, the story was told that it was Susan who couldn't find Green Bay on the map and complained, "I don't even know where I'm going to live!" Vince replied, "By the time I'm done there, everyone will know where you live."

So glad I discovered your channel. You guys are a hoot! A couple to add (you may have mentioned them in another vid) The Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys The Girls in the Stilt House; The Yellow Wife. And as a PS Maggie O'Farrell also won the Women's Prize for Fiction for Hamnet (one of my all time favorite novels from the first sentence to the last).

Cackle was my first dive into horror (I am a scaredy cat 😂 ) so I understand the cozy horror label. This book will be one I will reread because it does have that feel good formula to it. I also read Bad Dolls over the weekend and really enjoyed it. I like how Rachel uses the horror genre to illustrate internal struggles that a lot of people deal with in the real world. That is what I loved about the Twilight Zone and I believe that show has inspired soooo many books and movies over the years, it was just a beautifully written show and it was terrifying at the same time. Such sharp teeth is on my TBR and I can’t wait for what else is to come. And thank you for Cackle because it opened me to a new genre of books about witches and the supernatural, it’s a new favorite for me.
