I found the last Sweet Wheat at a store and grabbed it up (I already really enjoy the Small Batch). Later I found some positive reviews on it. Regardless, I still enjoyed your review. My particular bottle still remains unopened, just bought a few weeks ago.

Great video. I've been fortunate enough to have selected quite a few and I follow a very similar process. I don't like for anyone to start sharing or even pushing glasses here or there until we have a good idea. Sends bias in my opinion. I always cull one on my notes and make good or bad notes of course. Typically most agree on the one to cull (with some exceptions). One of the things I do to clear my nose is to heavily nose distilled water between. Maybe its just a mind game but it cleans my nostrils of any lingering notes from the previous glass. Cheers!

I love 1792 bottled in bond. Ive actually never had the small batch or full proof. But i recently able to get a Single Barrel, Sweet Wheat, and Aged 12 for MSRP. I already have 2 bottles of BIB. Never seen High Rye or Port Finish in my area.

Would it be worth double the MSRP? Liquor store down the street has one behind the counter for $124. I just hate paying double.

If you think Old Forester 100 is little hot 🔥 for you then try Old Forrester 86 it's a little smoother/less hot but both OF 86 and OF 100 are two of my Favorites

Just a FYI - Buffalo Trace distills this (i.e., mashbill #2) for Age International, who is separate from BT and is the owner of AA, AAA 10 star, Blanton's, Elmer T. Lee, Rock Hill Farms, Hancock Reserve, etc. ... so blame any shenanigans on Age International. Also, I've tasted both AAA 10 Star and a few bottles of Blanton's ... I agree that the profile is similar, and the younger AAA 10 Star is OK (I drink it straight and on ice), but it clearly lacks the roundness/richness/finish typically found in Blanton's. I've also had AA 80 and AA 90, and I think that the AAA 10 Star is better than both because is doesn't get sickly sweet when diluted with ice/water. All that being said, I have a friend who puts AAA 10 Star in his Blanton's bottles (that he's emptied into a decanter if he thinks it's good) to share with visitors 😉

I thought it was nothing special when i first tried it and was disappointed so i tucked it away in my cabinet thinking i would use it for cocktails. Then a month later i decided to give it another try and i don't know if it is the effect of oxygenation but it is so much better now, smoother with a longer finish.

In my opinion, only order standard offering's (if any items at all) and NOT any special or limited release bottles because the only thing they do is change the sticker (sometimes not even that) and just charge a more for their products. Not a good business practice! As a retired Marine myself, i definitely don't condone duping customers who don't know the difference between a standard release and a "special" release. All in the name of a charity and to higher the price of something they have in stock. It's too bad this brand is using the Marine Corps to push a product, I'd be all for it if the "Integrity" of their product marketing was as what their "Mission Statement" indicated. Sorry for the long comment, Cheers 💪🏾🥃

I love Baker's 7.... definitely a favorite of mine. I hope to secure a bottle of the 13 year in the not-so-distant future. The nose sounds amazing! Sounds like my kind'a nose. Thanks for the review.
@bradriley2243 ай бұрын
Almost everyone loves this bourbon. I don't and I agree with your review almost word for word. It isn't 'bad' exactly, but it's simple, lacks sweetness and lacks any real positives. It also drinks hotter than 100 proof. I did a 100-proof blind a while back. It (barely) beat Old Forester 100-proof (orange), which I can get for $25 and often less. It was beaten (slightly) by Barrell Foundation ($50) and (handily) by Smoke Wagon Small Batch ($55). I won't be buying it again since it's $60 around here. I think the Soft Red Wheat (SRW) is lacking as well, even more than this offering, though I'm not a fan of wheaters. The SRW is a ridiculous $70 locally. At 8-10 years this BiB might be decent, though I'm sure the price would be considerably higher than it is now, so still not a buy.

@@whiskeystraightup Little touchy aren't you? That's YOUR opinion. I am going by 50 years of slugging down all price point whiskeys. Four Roses makes a few grades of booze. It's not just the yellow label starting point. So you only want opinions that agree with you........I should have figured.

Not a fan of sagamore double oak. Idk how it gets so much hype. Its not complex at all, its not cheap, it has a way too bright and youthiness for me. Same with the sagamore sherry. They both have the same young bright note thats off putting to me. They arent terrible, they just arent all that good. Especially for the price. Much prefer rare breed rye, still austin rye, bare knuckles rye cask strength single barrels, anything ry3, especially the cigar series, rare character for good mgp ryes, prideful goat ryes, even old forester rye for a cheap rye, jack daniels single barrel barrel proof rye for the win in value for flavor, price, and proof.

I tried it for the first time and it's pretty good to me. Don't like a lot of bourbons, typically like Rye whiskey or Scotch when not drinking beer. Definitely taste better to me than say, Jim Beam or Jack Daniels.

Do you mix 20% Rye or more if you're making a Bourbon Whisky Infinity? I know its up to me but ive seen some videos to where ppl suggest keeping the Rye at 18% or lower. Theres a specific name for bottles that contain 20% or more of Rye but i dont recall. Thanks in advance.
@whiskeystraightup4 ай бұрын
I don’t think I’ve heard of this 20% thing. I’ll have to look into it. I just pour whatever I think might add some flavor. I don’t get too complicated with my personal blends. Sometimes, I’ll throw a weird one in there to give it a new flavor profile. 🤷♂️
