She mentions that the first things you see when people are reaching the point of burnout are the people acting edgy, angry, acting toxic. She's wrong... those aren't the first signs. The first signs are that the people who are getting burnt out are getting silent, withdrawing, because they feel that their leadership isn't seeing them and the impact that's causing burnout. They might increase efforts, many of them will ultimately end up decreasing their efforts when they feel like it's pointless to work hard when hard work isn't being recognized or rewarded. The response that she's talking about might come later, among the workers who chose to continue on out of loyalty to help the organization get through a difficult time...but then the situation doesn't get any better. She sounds like she's blind to what burnout really is. She's putting the blame on the burnt out employees, and not on the circumstances that were created to burn them out.

I heard a lot of lip service about identifying burnout employees, but not much about how the employer is driving that burnout with their behavior. People don’t choose to burnout, employers burn employees out with long hours, heavy workloads and the unhealthy workplace environment they create. Maybe focus a little on that as a manager rather than think how you can squeeze a little more out of them to get your bonus this quarter.

Yes, unfortunately, my former employer just kept putting more work on people and complaining and firing people if we couldn't keep up. They did not recognize or discuss burnout, even though it's one of the helping professions. So sad.

I would say that cleaning up an accidental act of disrespect is called being socially responsible, not vulnerable.

IM guessing he means it leaves you open for attack; narcissists view it as an opening to exploit leverage over you.

This is great information. I’m experiencing it now on a team. I was at the point of thinking to tell my manager. At a point to leave. Overloaded with work and unrealistic turnaround expectations. No time to even think or process. just Do. I feel like a “doer” that’s all.

Listen, I've been the boss and I've been the implementor. Sometime people think the process is BS and don't give it a chance, or sometimes the one up top doesn't understand the process well enough to see why it won't work so it ain't black and white. That all said I'm sure there's some context here I'm missing
