To be honest these cameras have issues and this is not uncommon. It could also be that it needs complete cleaning or that the battery pack is not giving it enough energy

There is a button to press on the side and it’s old so it might take a little energy to get it open the first time

I’ve just purchased one of these, I’m using a neutral filter with color 600 film as I read it’s possible I’ve installed it all correctly. But when I take pictures my film isn’t developing it just shows black or grey images I’m in a very well lighted room. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

Picked up one of these snd theres no light leaks but the lens is blurry no matter what i try, i put some wax paper on the focal plane to check the focus but its stil incredibly blurry lol

Well if the lens itself is dirty or has fungus or is scratched it will do this you can try using some isopropyl alcohol on the lens it might work but we take no responsibility for what happens

I bought yesterday that's same exact camera in a thrift thrift store for $19.99 ! Everything per your video works ! It is a little dirty on the lens exterior and interior but that can be cleaned. The curtain is in excellent shape and I can't wait to shoot some film, it's been 25 years for me. I need a clear lens safety filter to protect the lens! Thanks for the video! 👍

The shutter-speed control is on the body, not the lens. This is one of those things you either love or hate. The Nikkormat FT2 uses batteries for the meter that are still available. The last Nikkormat model manufactured, the EL, has the speed-control on top of the body, and uses a 6V A544 battery, still available. The EL was so good that it got "promoted" to a "real" Nikon when they stopped making Nikkormats. Both have vertically traveling metal shutter-curtain.

Hey! Could you please help me with the steps on using the self-timer? 😊 I just bought this camera and can't figure out if it's broken or if I'm just not knowledgeable enough. I'm pulling the advance lever, push the self-timer lever by 90 degrees, and push the little button next to it. After it goes off I can't seem to pull the advance lever so I think the photo wasn't taken. Thank you so much!

First wind the film then wind the timer and then release it should take the photo

A unique olympus camera indeed. Just make sure not to keep the lens in a place too close to you, it's most likely "hot"

@@forwardcameras someone believe that most of the vintage lenses are more or less radioactive (due to the presence of "rare earths" in the optical glass). There are some (slightly) radioactive lenses indeed, but that's not the most common case, and definitely not the case of any Olympus' lenses. No worries.

What does checking the depth of field mean? Why closing the diaphragm? It's not just for exposure?

Depth of field means what will be in focus depending on the size of the aperature so for instance the background is fuzzy and subject is in focus

Hello I found a 2a model c Brownie and I've opened it, checked the mirrors and lens, everything seems fine I just can't figure out the viewfinder? I can't see anything clear out of it and I don't understand how the viewfinder doesn't point toward where the lens is capturing? Sorry, I'm new :(

The viewfinder is supposed to be rather faint as it projects what the mirror sees onto a frosted glass. It should look a bit like a cloudy TV screen projecting the image at you. If you really can't see anything, I would open it back up again and clean the viewfinders, mirrors, and viewfinder lens.

It needs to be opened and cleaned. Also the mirror tends to detach and needs to be glued back into place.

The only disadvantage to the very robust Nikkormat series of SLR's? They are pretty heavy. I use mine on a tripod quite a lot. Almost never carry it on a neck strap. For a lighter camera try the FM or FE series.

I just "stole" one of these for $10 today. The guy offered it after I bought some other cameras he had. Tried to offer him more, he said he was happy it was going to a good home. Cleaning the dust off this evening, and putting some mink oil on the bellows.
