It's interesting she later said that this song was about her wanting to commit suicide. Here she tells the crowd that it was written when 'she was in a situation she didn't like' and sonically the music is really happy

Have you heard the original demo that leaked a year or so before the record release? The lyrics are different and you can tell it had a WAY darker meaning. The fact that they produced it later with happy Disney-sounding music is ironic, cause it was originally an acoustic and very somber song where INSTEAD OF “I sit, and listen again, I’m stuck with these cards, I guess” she originally wrote and sang “I sit, and listen again, drenched in all of the shit I can’t seem to escape” 😳😢 The song is such a fun number, but the original demo is heart wrenching and a deeply moving , brutally honest journal entry.
