I love everything that TGJ plays, but I’d say my most favorite tunes of their music are the ones without “sequenced” backing tracks such as this one. And of course, having Harumo onstage guarantees it’s gonna be perfect. Harumo has always been brilliant, but it sounds to me like she’s playing in a very different style than usual here. That was easy to understand once I learned that this is a Sonny Rollins tune. It’s so cool that she can pay tribute to the masters while still keeping her own personality as well.
