is there a benefit of using a smaller hook on yarn that size? or is it just preference?

I think that if you use a smaller hook the stitches will be smaller than those in your project and it may not have a nice result

Every video I watch makes it look so easy. My sc’s around the dowel are hideous. Any tips on how to control where the Vs of the stitch land? My swerve all over the place mostly below the rod. I can’t control my tension at all. Help? 🥺

it could be a general tension problem with the way you hold your yarn! maybe watch some videos about different ways to hold yarn when crocheting and see what works best for you in this instance

I just got your pattern from Etsy and love how it turned out!! I'm curious how you stay organized with the yarn colors. Do you work with smaller spools/sections of yarn? Would love any tips!

Glad you are enjoying it! I typically make 3-4 little balls of each color so that they are all prepped and it hopefully gets less tangled
