I haven't heard a single violinist play this arrangement close to as well as the original guitar version. Even Hadelich's performance loses the magic of the guitar, in my opinion. Maybe it simply doesn't translate well to the instrument. Perhaps it would work better without ricochet, since the ricochet forces the violinist to slow down too much to sacrifice speed for clarity. Even then, the voicing is almost impossible on the violin, which is why Hadelich leans on the bottom notes so much. That ags the tempo and kills the momentum, so it would be better with less rubato. It's also incredibly difficult to bring out the melody over the middle voices with the ricochet, especially since the upper middle voice is often on the same string as the melody. They're so close in register that it's hard to get them to sound independent of each other. And the ricochet bowing makes it impossible to sustain the melodic line. The notes are too short and articulated, so they lose their resonance. More often than not, this piece ends up sounding like a jumbled mess on the violin. I'd like to hear someone play it without the ricochet bowing and/or with the left hand pizzicato on the bass notes, which could potentially help bring the bass notes out without needing to hold them for an excessively long time, which violinists tend to do on this piece.

Well, interesting. Obviously, Mozart's duos are better, it wouldn't surprise anyone, foremost the K.242 which is saturated with a deepness of love never seen elsewhere.

Secondo me il linguaggio di Sibelius è unico e particolare, con una particolare semplicità nella condotta melodica riesce a restituire un suono completamente nuovo, diverso dal liricismo di qualsiasi altra estetica

Thank you very much for this score video! A flautist in our university band recommended this to me when we were discussing Copland's ballets, and at points it shares the same modal beauty as "Appalachian Spring" - though I can't recall a Copland piece I've heard that also borrows so straightforwardly from popular U.S. idioms. I've got the feeling as well that it's deceptively hard for the soloist with all of those high entries. Thanks again!

Wow! This Music is strangely "Bucolic" in the sense that you can almost hear the chickens and the geese and various barnyard animals given sonorous voice, with which to not only speak, but engage in conversation. Kind of a heated debate in the first movement. Very nice! Thanks.

Hard to believe there have been no comments. It might not be "Genius Level" but brilliant none the less. Gabriele, I for one am very appreciative. Considering the Reger, Ravel, Moszkowski, Sebelius duets and trios I've listened to tonight; I consider this the highlight of my evening! I'm not familiar with this composer (to my loss), as this music is not only beautiful, but very accessible to one at my level of ability. Thank You! Cheers, Jack
