So beautiful this rich, melodious sound. This reminds me of the organists at baseball games of the 60's and 70's at places like Crosley Field in Cincinnati and Metropolitan Stadium in Minnesota. Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and the organs at baseball stadiums are part of American culture for sure. And, hearing this stirring music on Memorial Day 2024 is certainly a poignant musical reminder of our cherished freedoms granted living as a citizen of this great country.

SO Sweet sounds. PLEASE SHARE what strings you have on that organ. In Fact, please share entire stoplist if you don't mind. Some day I will buy an organ and want a well balanced instrument with great strings like this.

Why can I not find this famous Hymn "The Holy City" in my five hymnals? Very strange that a beautiful hymn like this would be so hard to find.

I vow to thee, my country All earthly things above Entire and whole and perfect The service of my love The love that asks no questions The love that stands the test That lays upon the altar The dearest and the best The love that never falters The love that pays the price The love that makes undaunted The final sacrifice And there's another country I've heard of long ago Most dear to them that love her Most great to them that know We may (we may not count her armies) We may (we may not see her King) Her fortress is a faithful heart Her pride is suffering And soul by soul and silently Her shining bounds increase And her ways are ways of gentleness And all her paths are peace

Mary Immaculate, Star of the morning, Chosen before the creation began, Chosen to bring for thy bridal adorning, Woe to the serpent and rescue to man. Here, in an orbit of shadow and sadness, Veiling thy splendor, thy course thou hast run; Now thou art throned in all glory and gladness, Crowned by the hand of the savior and Son. Sinners, we worship thy sinless perfection; Fallen and weak, for thy pity we plead; Grant us the shield of thy sovereign protection, Measure thine aid by the depth of our need. Bend from thy throne at the voice of our crying, Bend to this earth which thy footsteps have trod; Stretch our thine arms to us, living and dying, Mary immaculate, Mother of God.” ~(written by) “Reverend” (heretical/schismatic Church of Ireland) F. W. Wetherell (1829-11 February 1903)

Thanks for recording this beautiful rendition! I found two more stanzas. I will try to add them later. If I am not wrong, then the melody is from Himmels-Lust, 1679, adapted and harmonized by Johann Sebastian Bach (31 March 1685-28 July 1750) of Eisenach to Leipzig, (Central East, modern day) Germany. Please feel free to correct me. Thanks again! Ave Maria! God bless:

I thought the Hauptwerk had an overall more pleasing sound. When the two were added together, it seemed that the Rodgers' mixtures enhanced the ensemble sound.

Such a beautiful piece of music!!! One of the organists at my church plays this piece often - and I have always loved it. But then again, Bach has many pieces of music that are so melodic and gorgeous!!

The mystery organist strikes again! You should be careful Taylor, he may want his own channel, and a cut of your performance royalties. He is pretty good. 😂 What I really want to know is where did you get that great looking bench cushion? My posterior is thinning, and aging, or the 990's bench is petrifying, and getting harder.😂. Either way a long stay at the console is becoming a pain in my backside.

LOL....I recorded this so I could walk around the room and check out the Tuba and Tromba ranks.... I sent them through different speakers (which helps a great deal)...thought that I'd just video it so I could listen again later..(when the organ is switched off, all recording is gone)....That's my story and I'm sticking to it (haha)...gotta use the pillow because I've lost the "beef" of my fanny due to lots of weight loss and aging...
