When I joined marching band as a mellophone this year I had a sophomore send me a little of the music that someone tried to transcribe for mellophone for me to learn and I tried l and gave up, I never gave it much thought until I got curious and looked at the show. Stunning. Needless to say I was amazed at how utterly awesome this work of art is. It also has some of the best mellophone music I’ve seen. It made me start learning a bit again and I think this may be may favorite marching band/dci show I’ve seen. This was one of the most deserved dci championship victories I’ve seen. Beautiful.

I will never grow tired of watching/listening to this show. This, in my opinion, is where DCI peaked. The mellophone line was absolutely spectacular this year, and it’s a shame I never got to see it live.

How long do you think the pop took to perfect? Jesus that’s so clean
@mattbowman332 жыл бұрын
It honestly didn’t take us too long! Of course it got better and better as the season went along but we didn’t implement it until we actually had all the choreography and such down I believe. It’s all hazy to me but it wasn’t perfect on day 1!

Bro, at the Middle Tennessee show that year, we were sitting in the upper bowl in the center, really good seats. And as you guys were coming onto the field preparing, none other than Matt Harloff sat in the row in front of us. He is the easiest to distinguish person ever, so It was very clearly him. By the end of the show, he seemed very intimidated by you guys. I'll always remember the look on his face at the very end.

whats the little black thing next to the mouthpiece receiver?
@mattbowman334 жыл бұрын
Chris K. That’s a BERP. It’s whenever we want to do a rep on mouthpiece only or whenever we want to buzz a part of the show. The BERP allows us to keep our instruments up so we buzz with correct posture and horn carriage

Quick question: What's the use of a BERP during performance? Thx for anyone who knows
@mattbowman334 жыл бұрын
Elliot Woo no use, it’s just for ease of not having to take it off every performance and put it back on after. Saves time. Some say it can affect the pitch a little but we did experiments with it in 2019 and it didn’t seem to make a difference
