About time, I always thought corner pieces was a waste and cube reduction. Reason some some brace the backwall only is they tend to believe that the back side of the woofer send pressure to that wall...

Daaaamn that bass sounds so controlled and precise. That's the kind of build I'm looking for, but smaller

Should be a link to the subs in the video description, they sell an 8-in version.

Question. Why is it important to base port design on x-max, when the woofer hardly moves at the tuning frequency?
@DIYAudioGuy17 сағат бұрын
That is a really good question. I'll need to do some research to see if I can figure out the answer.

That 2nd crimper, the pliers type, is the best. I suggest buying a QUALITY plier style crimper like those from Snap-on like we mechanics use. You'll never get adequate results with all those Chinese made, inferior crimpers.

OH NO!!! IKEA HAS INVADED!!!!!! EVERYBODY RUN!!!!!!!!!!! I kid i kid.... Always enjoy your vids, thanks for sharing. Im honestly surprised not more audio companies have a DIY box building program for their line of subs that are tuned/built for their own products instead of the "just slap em in there and hope its close" prebuilds you find at big box brick n mortar stores.

Did he say he set all tests to the same level via room eq wizard at 7:57? If I understood him right then he destroyed his whole test concept with that action. The variable this sort of test should control for is loss of cone control, not overall volume (the reason the 3 graphs dint look all to be roughly equal is that halving the frequency, doubles the power impact and this room eq program seems to incorporate thar idea).

What about a somewhat shallow box but big spacing around the speaker.. I’m looking at using a 15 in a shallow mounting but the space around the speaker is almost infinite.. and sealed. But possibly can be ported.

@DIYAudioGuy would you use one of these (or their HF model) 8" size in a bandpass 4th order design? I am really curious if I can get pretty good bass out of a tiny sub/box. The 8" HF which I ordered says it fits in a .95 cuft. I have some SQL 12s that claim they can fit in as small as .75 or so.. which is insane to me a 12" with as big as it is could go in a small sealed box than the 8". But I have always loved the cleaner (and I thought deeper but maybe not) sound of the 4th order bandpass. I remember hearing the Bose acoustimas with the tiny cube speakers and hidden sub and was amazed at how the low freq sounded like it was coming from the small cubes. Then a friend built a 4th order 2cuft box (1.25 front side with dual 2" ports and .75 back side sealed, speaker inside) and it was insane how much bass it put out.. single 10" Orion or Hifonics sub.. cant remember it was like 30 years ago.. but it was hitting harder and louder than my dual 12s with 400watts at the time. So I have an itch to build a 4th order box of some sort, ideally small.. that could house something like one of these $100 8" subs and put out some good bass. Ideal for a small home theater or bedroom setup. What do you think? Worthy of a build video for you? Consider it a challenge. :D

99% of people who use corner 45's are using them to help prevent standing waves inside the box, no one is using them for actual bracing. If they are using them for bracing, they're only doing so because their buddy said they should. I've built boxes with the 45's and without, and my personal real world experience taught me that a box with the 45's plays a bit smoother than without.
@DIYAudioGuy2 күн бұрын
If corner 45s in the box preventing standing waves then you should put them on both the horizontal and vertical corners, every corner should have one. But nobody does that. If It actually works the way you believe it works then you would go ahead and take that one step forward and put that 45 in every single corner.

Helpful video very easy to follow. I went and set my gains and forgot to disconnect my speakers bigo mistake. Smelled an electricity smell and when I went to play something, my front left speaker was faint and staticky no bass poor sound, It also set the amps protection off, luckily have and installed an replacement 😅. Apart from that Im doing 90% on head unit no issues, kenwood head unit seems happy and with a bonus of lower set gain on amp cleaner sound :).

Yeah I went to 19v by accident too far was super touchy the speaker can only handle 14v rms at 3 ohm 65 watts, so ye. Also was using 1khz 0db tone. Gotta unplug and trust the numbers. 👍

I have had really high quality 6.5,8 and 12s and 18s. To me, even triple 12s werent as pleasing to me as a single 18. both from the same line up. That said, they were all in boxes made by the same dude, all are all really great options over the stock trash haha.

For the life of me I cannot enter the T/S parameters of a Sundown Zv6 12" without receiving an integrity check error within Winisd. I've allowed it to auto calculate as well as followed the help guide provided within Winisd with no success. The SD parameter is absent from the sundown site, I'm not sure if that is contributing to integrity failure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

This complete package right here will probably get the job done. amzn.to/3TLrNpv I'm not really a huge fan of this brand, but it's not terribly expensive and it's a great first starter system.

Beautiful, but no replacement for displacement. Give me to maxxsonic 18's, I promise you, they'll outperform them as long as you have the right enclosure because space makes baas. Take an old g body (box Chevy) take out the back seat, and use the trunk as the enclosure, and two boss 18's will do 160 db with NO problem. 6.5😂😂😂

Sort of like the U.S. Amps. I like the throwback feel, but the price stings a little. And let's be truthful. Guys like U.S. Amps aren't building Amps IN the USA. Sure, the owner may be U.S. based, but he's getting an Asian build house to manufacture like any other brand out there.

Anyone know if these subs give more output than the X6.5s seem like they do. I bet 2 of those in a box would sound louder specially if it was a S6 horn if it fit. To each his own though Hella clean show quality. 😎

@iGPR3 windows up, as soon as the seal breaks the whole square space changes. True with any set up but, way more drastic in a car. Anyone else got experience? I had a sealed Ultimax 8 in my rx8 and is sounded great with low power windows up car OFF. as soon as you got on the road, nothing. Maybe 120 db 30hz. Nice n clean 110db maybe from 18-80 hz. Windows down. Now I got 2 10s doing g 140 at 24hz Same rx8. Tiny box. Needs power though. I like that it plays 18-60 windows up or down one up one down don't matter, the pressure is insane and I love it, specially driver up pass open.

Can i force a 8" subwoofer to produce lows? I found a box 32hz for dual 8's but will they sound good? i recently made a mistake on a single 8" 33hz box and it had little output but in a 41hz box it was decently loud the sub i used was NVX VCW84 Version 3 (VCW84v3) So now i've gone and made some expensive mistakes is it possible to make 8's hit them lows lol?

You can tune it low but it will not be as loud, that is the trade-off.

The only reason why I wouldn’t want a knob or USBs on the front of the unit is because it muddies up the dash of my car when I already have a volume knob, I would rather get a unit that can hook up to the factory knob and use my wheel control. I have a Chrysler 300, and would love to get rid of the god awful sounding uconnect system for something that doesn’t distort, and doesn’t auto cut frequencies at certain volume levels to protect their cheap speakers… seriously, stock base model speakers from ford sound better…
