As I recall, pretty easy. Around 4 miles round trip with 350 ft elevation loss on the way to the falls from the Cascade Creek trailhead on Ashton-Flagg Ranch Road

This was the best and first falls on the trip. We were further west than where you went. We underestimated the amount of rainfall they'd had this year. Some of the falls were non-existent! So, overall good, not necessarily great! But the wildflowers were nice and many were new to us.

Glad you liked it. It was probably the highlight of the trip! Based on the rainfall during the first 3 months of the year we were expecting more flow. No predicting!
@dylan84805 ай бұрын
Looks awesome. Would a 2WD vehicle be able to make it all the way to area near the Pigeon river or are mountain bikes necessary for the final 3 miles? Any idea what type of shape the road would be in this time of year?
@colong70345 ай бұрын
Yes - it is fantastic! Sorry, we don't remember just how bad the road was. We had no problem with a small SUV. You could probably go part of the way and then hike or bike from there if you thought it was getting iffy. We've done that a few times!

@waterfallrich8 ай бұрын
@@colong7034 We did Virginia Hawkins Falls on Laurel Fork Creek yesterday and it was excellent. Water levels were high, but not excessive. Today I went to Jones Gap Falls, but the sun on the waterfall wasn't my friend. Water flow was nice there also.

The good news is that Batson Creek is today (1/13) amazingly clear of silt. The bad news is that it's probably all in the French Broad! Hopefully a lot of it ended up in the corn fields or the sod farms.
