So beautiful, Barbara, thank you for sharing this with us. Inspired by seeing your older paintings (which were still lovely) and your progress. It's a great reminder like so many things in life, it takes action to progress. It's so easy to get caught up in "studying" instead of doing. xx

Thank you so much ! That makes me really happy! Yes it's true that we can have the impression of progress just by watching video's.... but the only way to remember something is to really DO it.... :)

very beautiful and playful! 🤩 It seems you used a graphite aquarelle pencil for drawing lines, because it dissolved with the water in the brush.

Hello, My mother suffers from dementia. I myself have been bedridden with different chronic diseases for 10 years. I find solace in drawing and painting. I would love to share this with my mother too. She loves looking at my pictures but has no interest in trying it herself. Do you have any advice how to maybe get her to enjoy drawing/painting after all? It means so much to me and I would love to share the joy. She has so little nowadays.
@BarbaraLuel4 ай бұрын
Dear Fiona, I'm sorry to read about all your suffering. This is how I try to make people draw and paint in the art for dementia workshop: I try to find art images that appeal to them, or pictures of things they like, like flowers, countryside,... whatever speaks to her. Then you take drawing paper, sit next to her and take a paper for yourself too, and some art supplies you think she might like. If she can still hold a brush, try paint, gouache or watercolor and otherwise pastels or colour pencils work well also, and start painting and drawing and the chances will be she will join you. Don't draw on her paper. Let her draw/paint on her paper, and draw yourself on your paper. So she can see how you do it. When the disease is far progressed, they forgot easyly what they were supposed to do with the brush or pencil. So it helps when they see how you do it. I hope this helps. Please tell me if it worked. I'm trying to makes some worksheets about it.

When I start a new sketchbook, I usually skip the first page. Later I'll either sketch my supplies or paint some watercolor backgrounds that I doodle on top of with ink. I have the ArtGraf in the tin but never thought of mixing it with watercolor as you did, I'll have to try that!

BARBARA...LOVELY TEACUP...by the way...what type of paper did you use? So sorry...the tape did that much damage...I have heard a hair dryer over the tape when you are about to remove it...can help...I use PAINTERS TAPE...for when you paint walls...it is less sticky naturally to masking tape...so far so good for me. What is the brush you are using...looks like a dagger...did you use it for the whole painting? I appreciate getting an email about when you post new videos...it makes me go right there asap...like your music too...bet you can paint a teacup in your sleep now!☺...Janis
@BarbaraLuel8 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! Normally this tape is supposed to be good for paper... I'll try the hair dryer ;) The paper is a Fabriano sketchbook ! Lovely paper! The dagger is a dagger by Rosemary's & co. I advice this one: it's imitation sable hair: www.rosemaryandco.com/watercolour-brushes/red-dot-daggers In the beginning I use a large synthetic round brus by Escoda with an amazing tip.
