non brazed joints? i feel like thise are more likely to leak than a properly brazed joint

The pansy keyboard supertechs are out in force on this one. Nitrogen was not used 30 years ago and still the units will outlast new versions.

Any time I install American standard or Trane I like to remove that side panel to verify that none of the pipes are touching anything. Especially the ones that go under the coil to the compressor. I like that RLS setup.

Can a 3.5 ton unit be reduced down from a 7/8 line to 3/4 suction line? The old unit is 3 ton with 3/8 and 3/4 lines.
@Balticblue9314 күн бұрын
Read the manual but the answer is yes, you can reduce to a 3/4" suction line on a 3.5-ton unit.
@AaronPowellvox11 күн бұрын
You will lose efficiency but it will work. It just won’t work as well because it won’t move as much refrigerant. Different manufacturers are different and the information is usually I the installation guide.
@Balticblue9310 күн бұрын
@@AaronPowellvox Not in this case you won’t lose efficiency by dropping from from 7/8th to 3/4. As long as the correct sized piston or TXV is used and the charge is set correctly, a half-ton difference isn’t enough to drop efficiency. Plenty of refrigerant will be flowing especially with a slight larger piston or 3.5 ton TXV. The actual charge will need a bit more dialing in but there isn’t a big enough difference to change efficiency. If anything, it might improve it.
@richlikeg37222 күн бұрын
The efficiency is probably negligible, I do it and I have no issues

If you are a DIY homeowner, I suggest to install the overflow bypass. Just look at how to from the manual.

There's a spray can product at the big orange box store that you spray on the coils (let it sit on about 10 min.) and hose off, in case you don't want to use the on-hose cleaner. I did mine without even taking the case off...much better!

I have to ask why you cut the damn coil out to replace a compressor??? I have done many of those a never had to cut the coil out. Invest in the NAVAC for swage tool. Worth every penny.
@Hvac_legend_2 ай бұрын
Just pull the coils when it's a tall unit, I'm short as hell so it's just easier for me. I've been eyeballing the swage and the bender. Think I'm gonna pull the trigger soon!

Lol atleast you where ready! Haha i try to look at the label first to see if its a long shank. Atleast with the equipment i work on, tp valve on the side will be longer to get past insulation, if its op the top, it tends to be short and on a nipple
@turboskywalker91085 ай бұрын
Too much work. I just remove compressor and braze it back in. No need to remove coil unless you cant reach down there
@Hvac_legend_5 ай бұрын
Ive done it both ways. Short coils it doesn't make sense to remove it. Tall coils it makes life easier and takes maybe 15 extra minutes to cut it out and braze it back in after.
@modquad185 ай бұрын
Man, an hvac guy used one of those crimp connectors on my filter/dryer and it failed massively about 4 mos later. Now my compressor is dead and he says it’s because the reversing valve musta got stuck in the middle. Is he BS’ing me?
@leviv28704 ай бұрын
Maybe but those press fittings are good if installed correctly, the pipe itself will split before the seals
@donmahone48475 ай бұрын
As long as the clearance above the ac unit is 5’ or more, the airflow will not be increased in air pressure. That should last along time. IMHO
