What a golden dusty. A slow dancer. Gorgeous soul ballad.

I'm a sucker for sweet soul music. What other soul treasures were found in Ben Brown's abandoned record store?

I lived 5 miles East of them, and have only dreams of the shows they gave in the backyard and schoolgrounds. Hate much of where it went, but this Golden moment... Their steelworker father did his best to keep then from a steel mill, life crushing and dangerous existence. We won't understand all these things until after death. This song is so GARY I can smell every part of that mill I worked in eight years. Think of the smell of fireworks, but tasteful hint of nosebleed. ❤ Gary!

@@begbieyabassWow, I have a lot of 45’s! At least 100 of them. (60’s to 70’s) The Ambassadors, Jackie Wilson, James Brown, etc. The group called “The Rascals” was a GOOD SOUL GROUP! They are Italian from New Jersey. They came to Philly all the time at the UPTOWN THEATER. All those groups hung in Philly in Center City! A lot of record companies are in Philly. The lead singer KENI BURKE would get his hair cut here. Jacquelyn from Philadelphia GOD BLESS U❤

@Midwest 45s........ Renowned [Northern Soul] DJ Ian Levine bought a single copy of this highly sought-after 45 during a trip to Chicago in early 1974. A few months later, he decided to give the official B-side ['She'll Come Running Back'] a play in the famous 'Highland Room' at Blackpool Mecca. The reaction was astonishing. [I know - I was there!] Originally released on the short-lived Chicago Fip label in 1969 'She'll Come Running Back' instantly became a NS classic and will always have a special place in NS fans' hearts. It is one of the most beautiful and haunting songs ever committed to vinyl - and Mel Britt's despairing vocals took it to whole different level. Sadly, Mel died penniless in February 2013 - indeed this was his very first solo single [45] release having previously been a member of the Visitors [of 'I'm in Danger' fame]. However, and thanks largely to efforts of Ian Levine - who tracked Mel down and got him to re-record 'She'll Come Running Back' for his 'Strange World of Northern Soul' film/CD series, Mel got some long overdue recognition [and royalties!] for the record. I am extremely fortunate and privileged to have two original copies [F-650] of the 45 - and despite the fact that they are now fetching around £4000 each - I would never ever sell them. Regrettably there were a lot of pretty awful 'bootleg' copies pressed up to satisfy the demand for the record, but they are reasonably easy to spot not least because of their poor sound quality.
