Did you try the AirPlay mode? I bought an r7 to have all-in one system cause I have disability but when I’m going to set the AirPlay mode (that’s should be AirPlay 1) I cannot adjust the volume by the the iPhone on panel control or in Apple Music app only mute and unmute. And it not appears to add it on HomeKit app (for the Domotica ecosystem). That’s would be great cause with the WiiM pro I could use it very easy for the use on the speakers, but you know I would like to have lossless audio quality 🙈 and AirPlay 2 compresses anyway. So any suggestions about fix it? I would like to add the system on the App Home (HomeKit). But more of all I would like to adjust the volume in r7 AirPlay mode. What happen to your device if in that work mode?

I suppose there is a way to root the android at this device? If so we can keep updating the sistem or even move to a different android.

Hi. A little complicated and the manual didn’t describe it clearly. 1. From your app FiiOMusic, turn on FiiO Link 2. Provide the IP address of R7 on your network. Then you can connect it through your phone. One thing that I like to share, once the phone is in sleep mode, you need to do above process again. It is not automatic. Yes some inconvenience.

Okay, maybe you can help. I want to be able to control the R7 with my Samsung S21. I can't even get the Fiio app to connect with the R7. If I just use Bluetooth it says connected, but when I open the Fiio app it says "no device found".?? The R7 isn't even listed in the list of connect manually. Please create a short video on how to connect the phone with Fiio app to the R7. So far no one else can or is even willing to help.

I have a Node 2 (not "i"), which I consider somewhat fair in musical quality, using it as a DAC. How does this dac perform musically? I prioritize the fact of being able to connect external disks to it, just like in the Node, which is why I rule out Topping and SMSL.

Hi. I replaced it from Node 3. Sonically both are good, but Node has a little more soft. All depended on the your preference. However, in UI definitely R7 is on the top. Both can be operated by a phone. If you used an android phone, it should be no learning curve.

Ciao.. I have a playlist of 2100 Flac Audio files (55GB). The R7 supports the random reproduction (shuffle) of all files or only individual albums/folder? Files on SD Card or SSD o LAN.. Thanks!!

Yes, it does. I have a 250GB drive attached, no issue playing them in different modes. Pretty quick to sort and list. Tried LAN, too, as long as you define it as a play list.

I use BlackPlayer EX. Is the best player I've ever used and supports folder/album play back as well as suggestions and shuffles. Basically an offline version of Spotify.

Yes, you can access Play Store and keep those updated. MFG is reputable and has been in the business for a long time for high end DAPs and audio devices

Nice equipment but terribly expensive - my entire monthly salary ... I could use a poorer version without headphone and balanced sockets and without a headphone amplifier, which I don't need - but cheaper ...

If you want a stand alone device to play local music files, you may want to look into the Topping M50. It doesn't use Android, but you can connect your phone to it and use the phone as a remote. The M50 is only around $200 if I think.

@@johnmc3862 Audio equipment is not my hobby. My hobby and life philosophy is music. Unfortunately, music has to be played on something. Yes, in my country this Fiio costs what I earn. For example, a set of Marantz 12 series costs 10 of my monthly salary...

I double-checked it; nope, it doesn't provide the screen rotation. However, there are lots of features that were added with and new Firmware 1.0.1, so, it may just matter of time to have it.

More than I expected compared to Blue Sound Node 3 and SMSL SU9; it is somewhere between those two. Flexibility is good but a little complex. At the given price & features, cannot complain.
