I find the Gerber Dime a fairly unimpressive tool and have since the thing launched ages ago. Its major advantage over the competition is … I mean, Leatherman doesn't make the Squirt anymore? You're carrying it for pliers, so I might consider the SwissTech keychain pliers tool. It seems like a toy, but they've got a lot of capability for what they are and they're stronger than they seem like they should be. They're about half the thickness of the Dime, though, so that might give you room for a few more things that're relatively flat, small, and good to have.

Do you find the penholder and the tether loop are on the wrong side? I would wear this in my right hand front pocket and would therefore want the loop and the pen holder on the left-hand side facing forward and the flat side of the duz all against my leg. Your thoughts please.
@KernowEDC2 ай бұрын
I guess thats a personal preference thing. I'm a lefty and if I chose to have it in my left front pocket I'd want the pen bit to be at the back (near the side of my leg) rather than the front. It could be worth reaching out to small independant designers on Etsy for custom models similar to this. I've done it with wallets before where I want a variation on a design for my personal needs.

I’m considering getting one of these to hold a Gerber dime. Olight mini pen and torch and a cygnett battery charger. I would probably put the cygnett charger in the inside pocket with a USB to lightning cable. Can someone do a review with these sorts of items or similar?
@KernowEDC2 ай бұрын
Thats a nice idea, though I think the back pocket is a little small and snug, so best do some research or post something on Reddit to ask the EDC community. I don't have a lot of those items personally, so I'm sorry can't help.

Wrong assessment between the Beefy and the Fatty. Former is humongous compared to the latter. Damn near twice and big and set up completely differently on their respective interiors.

I am almost sold on this light. My streamlight gave up its ghost so I’m trying to find what I want to replace it with. Honestly the memory function is what’s holding me off of this light. I don’t really like memory function, I like my light to come on the same mode every time for muscle memory. I don’t like to have to remember what I turned the light off on or have to cycle back through to have it start at the same place every time. When I’m at work, my hands are usually busy and I just want to use it and turn it off and know where it’s starting if I have to use it again. That’s just personal preference though.

@@KernowEDC I actually just got a Thrunite saber 659 off of Amazon for $11. I figured for $11 I couldn’t go wrong even if it ended up in the up in the kitchen drawer. I like it a lot. They nailed both the high and low mode and it has nice candela for a light that size. The ability to use a AA in a pinch instead of the rechargeable battery that came with it is kind of icing on the cake. The switch could be a little better but for $11 I’ll take it. It’s been in my pocket since it was delivered.

Depends on the situation. If I'm having a full day in the woods I'll take my Benchmade Bugout which I mainly use for food prep. I tend to carry a Mora Garberg fixed blade for all bushcraft tasks though, as its much safer and kinder to your hands for hard, extensive use.

I have a similar pouch & carry a bit of cash & band-aids, a mini Sharpie, & a mini pen, as well as a compact screwdriver, but it's bulkier than I’d like. I carry a Victorinox Rambler in my 5th pocket, but its screwdrivers are quite small. Great for electronics, but i need a bigger size a lot of times. I wish i could find a small driver that still has 1/4-inch bits. And I’d love to have a 12-foot tape measure handy, but the smallest I’ve found is still a bit bulky.

Nice thought to try using this tech hard case although it's not of my taste (I prefer cordura-like fabrics for pouch. Not too soft not too hard). Personally I'd replace the lip butter with a tube of pills. Also in such a tiny pouch it's a pity to carry two multitools. In my basic carry I have the Nextool mini sailor which is really cheap at around 17€, with top quality tools. And it's around 63mm long which will make it possible to fit in there. It has both pliers and scissors. In such a way you can save a valuable position for something else.

2 small multi tools is such a great idea tbh, I do the same. Just because in alot of cases you need a tool in each hand to get something done and you cant detach tools from them. Also those compliment eachother pretty well
@alimfuzzy8 ай бұрын
two pliers, yeah, but what is the point of having those particular items. Maybe he needs two bottle openers at the same time, or two scissors, or a pen and a screwdriver. Especially with the other gear in the case everything worth while is covered without the victorinox, and could leave room for other items. This is stupid redundancy.
@kvernesdotten8 ай бұрын
@@alimfuzzy I mean its not so much about using the same of 2 tools at the same time, as it is being able to use different tools from each at the same time. Like, pliers from one with screwdriver from the other to hold something down. Knife in one hand, a tool to hold things down or to use as a straight edge in the other. On a worn out screw, use flathead/can opener from one to pry from the bottom for purchase, while using the screwdriver on the other. Or what if you want to pry something apart where fingers are too soft, 2 flatheads or awls is great. Last time I used 2 was yesterday to deal with hot parts on a bbq. Everyone has different wants and needs though. For me, I'd take the 2 multitools and the flashlight from this kit, then everything else including the carrying bag would be "redundant" for me. The only thing I genuinly think is stupid, is carrying things on you daily that never gets used.

Nice review. The knife laws introduced in the UK are just silly. In all my days living in the UK, all I've ever heard is box cutter attacks. No one with a 75mm locking blade. All the knife aggor was around football supporters, The'ye not going to be rocking up with leatherman waves! Ludacris nonsense.

Nice pocket pouch. I think if they put one big packet on the back it would be better. It would probably be big enough to fit my code 118 card stash. This would be a bonus because the pack in my pocket would be less likely to fall out of my trousers pocket that the 118 stash does right now.

Nice one buddy. A Vic Manager (- light + tweezers) is my edc. I would replace the lip balm with the old Strepsils(?) tube I use in my Altoids type tin. This keeps all the little bits like threaded needles & ibuprofen tabs together. The one thing I would like to add is a small multi tool with a 1/4" bit holder. I thought the Powerpint would be it, but your review put me off a bit 😕. Plus I don't really need the other tools. I may just mod an old multi tool by removing unused tools & adding a cut down bit extender? Thanks for saving me a few quid 😅. Onen hag oll!
