Your knowledge of game mechanics is exceptional/commendable, but your "melee" skills needs work.😢 46:30 <best lvl up room in the game> if you get here faster, you can be lvl 8 sword/magic/life before completing any temples and have 12+ lives after Dark Link.😊 I watch speedruns but i don't do what they do. Try to finish a "no damage run" of the game. After try this again in earnest, I see potential <sub 63 minutes> in your future.

I had "Z" lives, "C" keys, and 0 deaths in my best run at age 13. Be the best at what you do or keep learning from the best.

49:10 this key location is the ultimate lvl up in the game... Require: fire, shield, gloves, stand on 3 block tall platform and shoot left. They will drop 200 exp bags/red potions every 6 kills. Lvl all 3 stats to 9k and move on. Get extra lives if you so desired. I had 23 after Dark Link.😊

Definitely one of my favourite speedruns to watch, both with regards to game and category. I've played z2 a ton throughout the years and am still amazed by how much skill is required to pull something like this off. I can't wait to see how low you will take this record :)

Category rules: Timing starts with control in North Palace. Time ends with control loss shortly after killing Dark Link (Make sure to hold right after the final hit until Link stops moving). No out of bounds tricks with glitch town or fairying are allowed (i.e. HUD Fairy warp, Fairy Feet & Healer Glitch). All spells, dungeon items, hammer, magic key, magic containers, heart containers, keys, and sword techniques must be collected. No fairying through doors without a key. No walking on the ceiling over a door without a key. All gems must be placed. No intentional (including Up+A) or accidental game overs allowed.

@@Enfer13 Indeed not, there are no level requirements stated. It is not that uncommon for games to not include max level in 100% speedruns, I think it's mostly to not force grinding (though this would be fairly quick in Z2).

Congrats! I do have a question, though. If this category is 100%, why are players not required to max out all three stats?

Like with most games with RPG elements, 100% in this refers to anything that you permanently get. Spells, items, and containers. All of these are visible either when you pause or when you're on the side scrolling map. You can't "collect" levels in this which is why it doesn't count towards 100% completion. I mean Final Fantasy 6 has a 100% category, does that mean all the players gotta get to level 99? Same concept here. Viewers of this category also ask about 1-up dolls and why we only get 2 or 3 of the four that are available. Well, since this game operates on credits based on the lives you have getting all four of em becomes a moot point. That's what 1CC means btw: One credit clear, meaning you can't use the game over screen to get lives back. Would be pretty fun if maxing out the levels WAS part of the category tho. And I think it should be since it's only two more life levels. Would definitely lead to some fun routing choices fosho.
