Most, if not, all JR East (the newer trains) all have automated japanese and english announcements.

Awesome! Not exactly what I was looking for, but fun. I'm writing a story called "Kaiba's Prostitute" and want my characters to visit the shrine, but it's not festival time in the story, so I'm trying to learn more about the shrine in the off-season. Part of why I write the story is to support sex workers, so if you'd like to know more, you can read it on multiple free-to-read platforms :)

I guess all train speaks English. All countries in Eastern Asia train speaks both their language and English sometimes Chinese too. But in Tokyo you might only hear The Next Station Announcement in English but arriving announcement will only be announced in Japanese. Japan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Korea (even North Korea) all speaks their language and English.

No Japanese thinks of it as a language invasion lol And it was pretty funny to see you guys watching an English school ad in the train. "Leave me alone!"

If you go to Osaka or Tokyo or ne other great city many people do speak english...Japans culture rivals that of NYC (Fashion, Transit, Restraunts ETC...) Stay in the big cities or tourist areas and you shall have no prob. with translations. Its like Europe, many counties over there teach English as a second language. Plus its the universal language for buisness, until cantanese takes into effect.

Dom! I'm soooooo sorry for the late reply!!!!! Yes, this was taken in Yashio City at the one of the local karaoke places we used to frequent. It's down the road from the Jusco. If you stand at the lights just outside the Jusco with the koban to your left and look straight down the road you'll see a karaoke sign on the right hand side of the road next to an all night computer place. We used to be when I was there. That's where I took this picture. Sorry for the tardiness.

Yeah, it depends which line you decide to ride. Different companies offer a bilingual English/Japanese announcement on their trains. Some don't however.

Hahaha, even thought there are short English language lessons on the train like that, they still don't learn anything. That's why there are so many expats there teaching English! LOL

Hey Paatuki, I was hoping to find out which restaurant exactly this was in Yashio City? I live in United Kingdom but would be interested to visit this restaurant. Do you have a website or even a phone number for them? If you do I would very much appreciate it. Thanks so much for your time! Cheers!

@broxboy86 Lol. Yet another frustranted and narrow-minded native english speaker who'll never know the joy of learning another language. Look, I'm 21 and I already spent 6 months in Japan on my own, speaking only in japanese. Best 6 months of my life!! I guess this kind of experience is out of reach for you, how sad:( C'est quand même affligeant de voir que certaines personnes n'ont aucun respect envers les langues étrangères!

Heya dominici21, this particular machine is in Yashio City, south-eastern Saitama, at a really nice kaorake place there. Are you anywhere near Yashio? I'm sure too that there are other places around with machines like this! Glad you liked it! Cheers!
