People generalize South Indian Cinema but Satyajit Ray did point out Tamil and Malayalam film industries (Madras also included Telugu film industry back then ) but I don't like when people say South Indian films are good becuase South India also includes Telugu film industry which is one of the most regressive industry with full nepotism, cringe crap masala scenes and also sexist crap movies, this applies to some extent to Kannada films as well, Malayalam movies are great and so are some Tamil films.

Are you the one to decide what kind of movies we should make? Movies are for entertainment of the people. If they like it and pay to watch them, who are you to question it? Are you paying for us? Today Telugu film industry is making movies for the masses and if people didn't like them we wouldn't make them. Who are you to deny people what they want? You're singling out Telugu industry like you don't find the characteristics you described in all the other industries. Guess what they exist everywhere and it's not always one-sided.

I have always watched films made by Adoor Gopalkrishnan, G V Iyer, G Aravindan, etc. ... in general, I have felt that South Indian movies always tended to be superior on story, acting and technicalities. Big fan of Mamoothy, Mohanlal, Kamalahasan, etc.

Thats what you get when you don't know how to make commercial Films and instead show too much art which people get bored of... And industry couldn't sustain. People want escapism and that why most of the people watch films. Too much poverty and ideology then industries are gone. Like Bollywood too. Arthouse movies reminds me of that one William Dafoe's movie in the movie of Mr.Bean movie Sometimes people label every arthouse movie as masterpiece I am not fan of Over the top action but i think it all depends on execution and direction Drishyam is the best movie in last decade and it's a fully commercial movie

I am ok being a backward audience. I enjoy masala films.. i enjoyed sholay, don, kabhie kabhie kabhie, aradhana, lagaan, mohra etc. I don't like to face my own reality when I go to a movie but i don't like chichora movies with hero eve teases the heroine and heroine falls for hero or rape or violence against women.

By your comment either you haven't watched a lot or you are just filled with hate. Telugu industry has produced brilliant social dramas, women empowerment based movies(true kind not the pretend kind), men empowerment, marriage empowerment, action, fantasy, comedy, sci-fi and many. But go ahead and try to bring it down. The more you try the more we will rise. Especially malyalam films as I am watching it some even decade ago films are so artistic and what's special is people support such films there u like any other industries. But I would still point out some great cinema from every industry and all of them have equal purposes to serve but we need to appreciate in general artistic films along with commercial movies too!!
