Hi, I have a similar issue, locked door, but my window winder mechanism is not working either?

I am having the same trouble. Do you know if that small hole exists on the front passenger door? As I have the issue on the front. MK4 Golf.

Followed and have got to the stage of pushing the white plastic lever back. Even on a new door lock module it just won't unlock at the second click. First time, click and latch on opens. Sweet. Try to open it for second click.... Nothing. So weird! Update: didn't quite understand how the latch worked. Seemed to have got my head round it now. Anyhow! The battery went flat from having the doors open, locking/unlocking and not driving - so charged it up, went for a spin and to my sheer delight when I popped the button.... It popped open! God knows why. But it's open. Took the fuse out for the locking until I properly fix it! Thanks for the vid ❤

Hi, thanks for the video but how did you remove the door card? I'm in the same boat, my passenger door is locked and I can't open it but I can't see any way to remove the door card if the door is shut. Am I missing something or do I have to cut holes in the door card and wreck it and replace with a new one?

Great video. Unfortunately I am no closer to resolution. I have followed your instructions carefully after originally trying the many 'solutions' available on the internet. My son and myself created much amusment in a local supermarket carpark as we practically destroyed the offside side of my Polo, clicking. snapping and kicking. NOTHING! Finally gave in and proceeded to nearly destroy the door card but suceeded with that. Fiddled around trying to move various levers, etc. NOTHING! Drilled hole as instructed and loosened screw which has disappeared somewhere. I'm left with a hand-full of screws, levers and various other bits and pieces. STILL DEADLOCKED and immovable. To beat it all I can't for the life of me get that electrical connection off. I'm on the point of cutting that off now. Do you suggest a jack hammer? I have no intention in spending £300 for some 'technician' to fiddle around with. Any ideas? Thanks

just bought a Seat Leon with the rear right door locked, the child lock on, how do I open the door?
@Scott-vs9qq Жыл бұрын
Not worked on a Seat Leon... however, if its anything like the mk4 Golf, if you peel away the inside rear plastic arch liner, on the Golf, you could pull away the door seal and just about access the child lock. Its fiddly, awkward and you'll swear a lot but it could be done.

Never done this job on a Passat, however on a Golf, you can pull the seat forward, move the foam seal out of the way enough to just about child lock to undo it. Its mega fiddly and requires patience!

Thank you! Although, the white plastic part wouldn't stay at the up position. I had to drill another hole below the hole shown on the video. From the drilled hole I was able to lift the metal part, which is meant to move with the white plastic, up. *click* and the door oppened. Also the drilled hole will be covered by the door panel so all good.

Did you remember to take the black plastic cover from the old lock to the new one? The cover has a clip where the metal rod (attached to the lock module) should be attached. Without the cover my lock wouldn't work either

Thank you for the detail "I was able to lift the metal part, which is meant to move with the white plastic" - this *crucial* piece of information was also what was wrong with my lock. I cut a hole to give access to the metal bit, moved it with a flat-head screw driver, pulled the cable release and the door opened! Phew.

Hi Scott, what where the actual symptoms of not working? On my golf I only have cold air, either with Ac on or off. When changing to hot, works for about 3 seconds and then goes cold again 🤯 changed the thermostat, the senders, flushed the cooling system 3 times and still doest work. Any help would be appreciated.
@Scott-vs9qq3 жыл бұрын
Primarily, I was getting fault code: 00361-014 - Defective, which is related to the aux heater. Also, it designed to heat the air when the ambient temp is below 5 degrees I believe, and I wasn't experiencing this.

I understand (although not completely sure because I've never seen one) that its actually easier, because that plastic bar does not exist on the drivers side (in a left hand drive VW) but the aux heater is in the same orientation..

Nice job Scott - It's probably the coldest day ever in Worthing today, but my car failed MOT because of this door issue. You might just have saved me +/- £350.00... when I give your method a go I'll let you know how I got along - thanks for injecting me with a little hope! I'm back Scott - had to come back and re-watch & listen to your video a couple of times but your fix WORKED!! The door is open now and I've ordered the part which should arrive in a couple of days. The door closed, is a different kettle of fish when compared to working on a door that opens and closes without issues. Just one wee thing. That hole your eagle eyes were able to see and interpret through was too small for my old eyes, so I did the only plausible thing... I got the old Dremel out and enlarged the hole. I've ordered a large grommet to seal the loverly hole I've made. Never the less, an afternoon of my time and £25 delivered is a lot better than a garage bill of >£350. Many thanks again Scott - (Worthing, West Sussex)
@Scott-vs9qq3 жыл бұрын
Peter - you're very welcome. I know what you mean, the working area isn't great but I'm glad you managed to sort it in the end. Its a great feeling when you nudge that plastic arm over, pull the cable and the door opens! Thanks for the comments.

Is that a new aux heater? I can’t find them anywhere online at a reasonable price. Where did you get yours?
@Scott-vs9qq3 жыл бұрын
No, that's the original one I was removing so was defective. I ended up resoldering the resistors as per this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5vdkox8q9OCibc and refitting it. The fault codes were gone and it works a treat now. You can get them cheap on eBay but you'll generally find the same problem with them all.

Whats the auxiliary heater used for I have pending fault on my scanner
@Scott-vs9qq3 жыл бұрын
Provides 1000W of pre heating to the vents when the outside temp drops below 5 degrees C. It doesn't really warm the car but does remove the initial chill quite quickly before the engine temps increases. Its debatable over whether its worth actually fixing it or not, but I don't like standing fault codes so wanted to see if I could sort it.
@jameshalford46992 жыл бұрын
Does the actuator need refitting if you remove the aux heater completely

I actually don't know but assuming the aux heater is in the same position, presumably you can just depress or remove the accelerator pedal in order to make sufficient space to withdraw the aux heater.
