That reminds me of my RONCO Pocket Fisherman that I got for Christmas in the ‘70’s
@beanerooutdoors9213Ай бұрын
It's probably the same, just a newer thing. The only cons I would have to say to the pole is the line is it is extremely light (3lbs) and the gear ratio, it's more for sitting and bobber kind of fishing. As soon as you get it, I would take it apart and put an 8lb line on it or a braid line. Thanks for watching and the comment!

Yeah I was super stoked to see that. I was talking to his son "little Rom". He was snapchatting me when they came in. It was pretty awesome to see that and his wife who we call "Sug", was there with them too.

Got one for dad's day to take on the atv. Can't wait to try it out!
@beanerooutdoors92132 ай бұрын
Nice! It does the trick! I upgraded one I got with braided line bc I felt the line that came with it was a little thin. I got another one to try out just as is and make a video on it, but I'm gonna use it till the point of failing, or I run out of bait on some huge bluegills. Thanks for watching and the comment!

Awesome man! That'll definitely put it to the test bc that's a fairly decent fight, if I'm thinking of the same fish. That'll put that thing to the test. Let me know how it does! Thanks for watching!

I just got one for a backpacking trip I'm doing in the Uinta mountains (Utah). What bait were you using? Any recommendations?
@beanerooutdoors92132 ай бұрын
I was using the yellowish powerbait. I would recommend it. I've always had really good luck with it. I fished out in Colorado for trout once, and yellow powerbait seemed to have as good of luck out there, as it does here in VA. Good luck with it John! Thanks for watching as well!

Oh yeah! When a gun kicks, it doesn't bother him. He's been practiced with on shooting since he's been about 4 or 5. We've practiced with him, and him knowing the kick is coming. So it doesn't bother him at all. Thanks for asking though! And thanks for commenting!

@beanerooutdoors92133 ай бұрын
Hahahahah, Walgreens? Of all places to find a fishing pole, I would never have guessed that. I'm gonna do a video where I put it to the test. I've got a pond that is loaded and has some huge blue gills in it. I'm gonna pretty much dog the pole till it either does the job or breaks. I want to see what it will take and show you and the viewers at the same time, lol. Thanks for watching!

@beanerooutdoors92133 ай бұрын
I tell ya, Sawyer's Permethrin is one of the greatest inventions for spring gobbler. I spray my entire clothes and gear with that stuff. Ticks and mosquitos hate that stuff. I haven't had a tick on me yet this year. The stuff is amazing.
@MOBryan53 ай бұрын
@beanerooutdoors9213 yep, I use it as well. It's great stuff. However, the ticks here in Missouri are so bad that some of them will still crawl on me. Great video 👍.

@beanerooutdoors92134 ай бұрын
Awesome! Thanks Shawn! The line is pretty light. I switched mine to a heavier mono. Also the reel doesn't reel fast enough for a spinner. I'm gonna do another video this summer for how durable it holds up. I got a good area for crappie and big bluegill. I'm gonna do a catch and cook but really put it to the test with those small pan fish. We'll see how it holds up to hooking 50 fish in a row.

Have you tried to string it with other line? I wonder how it would run with like some 6lbs braid
@beanerooutdoors92134 ай бұрын
I actually have, and it takes a little time. It's not hard. It's just tedious. When you take off the top of the reel, the biggest difficulty on putting it back together once you've done it is getting the release push button back in. It just holds in the reel on its own, so it pops out easy on ya if you don't have it just perfect. You can do it though, it took me about 30 minutes. Thanks for watching! I hope this helps ya out! Also I'll be doing a couple more videos on this pole this summer. I'm gonna run it through the ringer pretty hard, to see how it holds up to crappie and bluegills.

I've just determined prior to making the length i need and the entite sling is made from one long piece. Never know if you may need the length in a pinch. Just put both swivels on and start like a bracelet and finish it.
@beanerooutdoors92135 ай бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion, Chad! It's definitely a good idea, and like my papa said, "There's more than one way to skin a squirrel," lol. Thanks for watching and the comment!

I'm so glad it helped you out, and you were able to do it easily!

What do you make with the cooked meat? Are you storing it for later?
@JessSinha6 ай бұрын
Great tutorial, just an idea though: I am making a few of these, and I found that if you measure out the length you want the sling to be, you can just take the entire length of paracord, do a simple slip knot on one attachment, measure the length you want it to be and then do another slip knot on the other attachment, then start the macrame pattern. That way you have one very long piece of paracord instead of two shorter pieces. The whole point of using paracord is so if you need cordage, you have it. Just figuring that one long piece would be more useful than two shorter pieces in an emergency.
@JessSinha6 ай бұрын
You can also double the center section (the length part) so that you have even more paracord and a wider sling. :)
@beanerooutdoors92136 ай бұрын
That's perfect! Thanks for the tip and watching. Also, you are absolutely right. Your suggestion makes a little more sense, in my opinion. As my Papa always used to say, "there's more than one way to skin a squirrel," lol. Thanks for the tip, and I'm definitely gonna give your way a try. I like the "making it more wide" approach. Thank you so much again for the comment and for taking the time to chat with me!
