Good insights of seperating out the engine. 👍 I am restoring my motorcycle and might get into this stage soon. The engine has various connections , which need to be disconnected before removal. I am listing the same ( this is for a 2 stroke Yamaha ) : 1. Spark Plug connection lead. 2. Magneto connection wires. 3. Neutral gear indicator wire. 4. Carburetor with fuel pipe, airfilter manifold and throttle cable ( cable branch 1 ). 5. Oil pump connection pipe ( input and output pipe ) and throttle cable ( cable branch 2 ). 6. Exhaust pipe connection. 7. Drive procket & Chain connection. 8. Clutch cable connection, Kicker and gear shifter. Kindly indicate if anything missed out ( of course varies with different motorcycle types). Thanks for reading. 🙏

Nice video on piston seizure. 👍 I'm going through the same issue with a 2 stroke cylinder. The motorcycle is sitting idle outdoors for a couple of years amidst all the climates. Moisture has entered and created oxidation deposits on the cylinder wall, blocking the piston at BDC. Tried soaking various concotions mixing diesel, 2T engine oil, castor oil, vinegar amidst unlimited sprays of WD-40. This is on for the past 2 months. I have been gently tapping the piston with a mallet and also trying to lift the block with a view to break the bond. Not much luck in moving the piston. Only have been able to scrub the oxidation above the piston and on the exposed part of the cylinder wall. Planning to continue this for another week as the motorcycle is now inside my house, also, wish to save the piston and the block as the spares are no longer available in the market. Heating the cylinder is my later option, as I would need to remove the engine from the chassis, take it outdoors and also have to dry it completely from the various inflammable liquids I have been soaking in so far. This may help. Any other safer tips could help. Thanks for reading. 🙏

Wait dont you need to have the surface a bit roughed up for primer to stick? Also use metal etch first or an epoxy on bare metal

He used enough fiberglass the build 3 seats , half of it went to waste and why didnt he alternate roving mat roving mat? coulda done a 2 unit lay-up. You should try and do your lay-up so that you do your trim halfway through the kick , that way everything is like slicing bread instead of having to saw rock hard resin !

Sorry, but you should rename this "how not to paint a motorcycle frame. The method you used will not last. You need epoxy primer and then you should have used a high temp paint if using from a can and if from a gun you should use eurethane or laquer

This video was made 8 years ago. Unfortunately, thanks to California, you can no longer buy paint remover that actually works. They got methylene Chloride banned, whch was the active ingredient in paint strippers.

Bike was low on oil and siezed. I freed it up and everything seems fine, but not starting. Is it possible nothing is wrong or should I just rebuild the top end? I doubt the bottom end is messed up, but Honda tried to say the whole engine is fried.

A for effort - I sure as hell could not have done better. I think what caught you out a bit (just theorizing here) was that you transferred your template line, which in essence is your stitch line, and later used it as a cut line instead. I might be wrong, but that's what it looked like to me. I'm going to make my first attempt soon, and honestly - I'd be impressed if I do as well as you did.
