As far as I can see, the duration is the only thing you can adjust. It is pretty good for 1-2 people. I think its good.

just so you know, this is not how you clean or descale this machine, all they have done here is make a cup of hot water ! you need descaling tablets to do it right !

I've had mine for years. Marketed as Emeril Lagasse's Rice cooker. I'm trying to figure out how to saute onions in it. Ugh! Guess I can't. Just found the books that came with it. I love it though!

Unfortunately you are doing it wrong. You need to hold the button for 3-5 seconds. Two LEDs will light up: the cup (orange) and the cleaning (red), the espresso machine will start to make a tapping sound, the preparation will start to drip slowly into the vessel. After rattling and tapping again a few times, the cleaning process is complete after about 10 -15 minutes. After that, rinse the coffee maker two or three times using only water and the disc in the basic heating program.

I never thought of the waste from throwing all those discs away, but you're right, lots of rubbish generated. The coffee does taste great and we swapped to the decaf kenco discs and they make the best decaf we have tried. Dropped you a subscribe :)
