Is it plausible that the Kenyan Luo and Igbo have a common ancestry? Absolutely! Let's first dispel a few myths. The Kenyan Luo are not pure nilotes. They are genetically mixed. In fact, Y-DNA analysis clusters them with the Niger-Congo-Kordofanian group because of the predominance of the E1b1a haplotype among them. The same analysis also demonstrates that, contrary to long-held beliefs, they genetically cluster more closely with Bantus than with the Dinka of South Sudan. Genetics aside, the Kenyan Luo are linguistically and culturally nilotic. Luo people migrated south, east, and west from the cradle land and mixed with other peoples as they migrated. Thus, some blending of physical features must've occurred the further out they migrated. For this reason and environmental factors, I must argue that the differences in skin tone do not rule out a common ancestry between any two groups. The similarities in names and other cultural aspects between the Igbo and Luo are intriguing 6:11 . Could Igbo origins also be in the Nile valley? And are differences between the groups that we see in some cultural rites, e.g., circumcision, merely a function of who each group mixed with over time? Sounds plausible.

As a South Sudanese living in Kenya (Dinka) to be specific, l have a Kenyan Lou friend and l was surprised that our languages are about 20-30% familiar which makes sense because our origin is Sudan. But this video brings some confusion cause in terms of similarities, most African tribes share alot in common in the ways of living, doing business, food, culture regardless of being a Bantu, Nilotic or Niger Congo group. According to my research, The Lous of Kenya have Y haplogroup E-M2 (E1b1a) meanwhile Igbos have haplogroup L1 or E-M2 (E1b1a1) which is common among some African groups. It has not yet scientifically proven that these two tribes are related genetically. When we go back into origin and history the Igbos believe to have migrated from Niger river where it meets the Benue river and have settled in their present land for thousands of years dating back 6000 BC /4th millennium with the prove of fossils and remains of pottery from around 3000 years ago in areas of Afrikpo, Okigwe etc and they are older than most tribes in Nigeria, Some reseachers say the Igbos are more than 250,000 years old. During this period the Lous where still in Sudan not even South Sudan and migrated first into Southern Sudan before other tribes, settled in what is now the Bar el ghazal region in South Sudan before migrating to Kenya and other countries like DRC, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia etc recently in the 15th century 500-600 years ago living their cousins behind in Bar el ghazal who still speak the same language. The Luos in Kenya are way lighter and shorter in structure due to intermarriage with Bantus tribes compared to the Luos of South Sudan who are still very tall and darker just like the Dinkas and Nuers. As far as l know, the Igbos are shorter and lighter in complexion compared to Luos because they are of the Niger-Congo groups meanwhile the Luos are of Nilotic origin. If they share names then they might not share meaning, it must be a coincidence or if they are truly related, then l wonder what year they where once one tribe before dividing 🤔???? Therefore at the end of the day, we are all humans and come from the same origin as the Bible and science says. Thanks

China is seeing the future of Africa through the Igbos. In other words, they believe that Igbo will rule Africa in the nearest future if Jesus Christ tarries. It's an eye opener for the Igbos, particularly, those who are relegating Igbo language and culture. There may likely be status displacement when the time comes. In others, some Chinese may displace some original Igbos in the scheme of things in Africa in the future. Igbo kwenu! Igbo kwenu!! Igbo kwezuenu!!! Igbo amaka!

Congratulations to Anthony. But, it is not okay to hold him up as being exemplary. This is because his Igbo is more of what Oliver de Coque called Engligbo, an admixture of English and Igbo. While it may not be possible to speak any African languages today without an infusion of colonial words here and there, that is quite different from overwhelming an African language with unnecessary foreign words, as this young boy does. The blame does not lie with the boy, but rather with those he learnt the language from. The boy learnt Igbo from people who think in English while speaking Igbo, resulting in the superimposition of Igbo words on a chassis of English language for which it is not designed, and all the misalignment/difficulties that comes with that, including the need to import unnecessary English words.

In Africa we are many yet to be discovered. Aside from those that fled the genocide of 1966, i have travelled many African countries to realize some certain similarities some are in names, some are in culture, some are in behavior, some are in languages. Do you also know that the people of South Sudan have a similarity? The people of Abazonia the break away region of Cameron. Now another people in Kenya, yet Nnamdi Kanu was kidnapped in Kenya. This Life self, the Igbos in America, Barbados, Haiti, Jamaica and other parts of the world are identifying with the Igbos in Biafra Nation, but those created into a corn state by Britain led by Gowon to weaken the mighty of the Igbos are saying that they are not Igbo. Oh God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of the ancient people my people the Igbos, the God of freedom.
