Hi, did you need to get permission to do this or was it turn up and fly? I have been here one a couple of occasions but never with the Mini 3 Pro, thank you in advance - PS I am from Edinburgh
@highflyingscotland11 күн бұрын
Hi, I didn't see any signs saying I couldn't fly and no NFZ, so I rocked up and put the Mini 4 up from a quiet area. Sometimes it's easier to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission. The tour I was on was only there for 30 minutes so didn't have much time to get the footage. I need to get the drone out in Edinburgh more, it's a beautiful city and I grew up on the outskirts.

I used a DJI Mini 2 which is under 250g so you can fly closer to people than 50m and you can fly over them, you can also fly in built up areas. In the UK landowners can't stop you from flying over their property, they can only stop you from taking off from it.

Brave men, especially as they were targeted in WWI by the enemy to reduce British moral. This lead to the War Office banning pipers in the front line in WWII, but do a google search for "Mad William Millin". On D-Day Lord Lovet asked Private Millin to pipe the soldiers ashore at Sword Beach saying of the law "Ah, but that's the English War Office. You and I are both Scottish, and that doesn't apply." Millin said that he later spoke to captured German snipers who told him they didn't shoot at him because they thought he had gone mad.

It was a great day out, the sun was shining most of the day with only a couple of spots of rain, a bit of a trek from the East coast, but worth it. Our local band's novice drum corp (which my eldest plays snare for) picked up 1st place for their grade, the adult band got 1st for drumming & 1st for ensemble in their grade and our junior drum major picked up 2nd place.

Thanks, I wasn't sure how it was going to come out as there was lots of people showing interest in the drone and what could be seen on the screen, which I usually don't mind, but there was a lot of distraction. At one point I had 4 people all trying to see the screen at the same time and I even had to ask one of them to not lean in front of me because for safety it's more important that I can see where it was flying than them. 😂

At certain angles you might say that it looked like a giant bronze dog's turd. I don't really think that it's a structure that does Edinburgh any real favours apart from luring rubber neckers from around the world to come and gorp at it.

Hi HFS. I found this tutorial over six months ago and then I lost track of it. I have attempted to do this technique using my Mavic three in November, and I found one major flaw and I don’t know if it’s the same with the Mavic 3 compared to the drone you were using. On the Mavic 3 the Actual dimensions of the Raw file are slightly different than the dimensions of the JPEG file. It’s not just that one is slightly bigger or smaller. The actual proportions are slightly different. Enough so that when I tried to blend the two images, they weren’t aligned properly and of course, wherever things are lighter edges of the area where the cars are moving and light is bleeding up into the sides of the road or a bridge or whatever online incorrectly. What I may not have done was collapse on the JPEG‘s first, and then add the Raw file and have Photoshop attempt to align it. But it still seems like if the proportions of the original image are different, I would still have trouble. I’ll have to go back and re- work that image again and see if it changed anything. I wanted to use the DNG for the master overall image. But when you turn off the Lighten mode layer to reveal the DNG layer, the two images don't match up- even after Aligning all the layers. The DNG layer has a slightly different shape. I've been beating my head on this for a couple of days because I couldn't get alignment of all my layers, and just now figured out that the DNGs out of camera are 5272 x 3948 pixels and the JPGs - even on the same image - are 5280 x 3956 pixels. WTF...????
@highflyingscotland6 ай бұрын
Hi @jeffellis6544, sorry if the instructions caused any confusion or issues. This was made a few years ago with a Mini 2, which I've now sold so I can't even test with anymore. I've not tried doing any lightpainting lately with either of my other drones (Mini 4 pro & Air 2S). I've tried taking a photo with the Mini 4 Pro and can align DNG's and JPG's out of it without any issue, Photoshop shows both the DNG and JPG as 4032 x 3024 for this one. When I get a chance I'll break out the Air 2S and try that as well and let you know how I get on.

@highflyingscotland Жыл бұрын
It's the Insta360 Sphere, I was about half way along with a damn bright red flashing strobe on the drone that's hidden from camera because it's in the stitchline of the 2 180 degree cameras above and beneath the drone (same reason you can't see the drone itself regardless of which way you point the camera)
