Hello, could the unknown dahlia be Caitlin's Joy or Isabel (Isabel has bronze hints)?

Dear Victoria, I really enjoyed the introduction to your top ten dahlias for 2023. I appreciated that you printed the names of each. Your descriptions were excellent. Finally, I appreciated that there was no music during your talk. Very nicely produced. Sincerely, Larry Clarence Lewis London, Ontario, Canada.

Love your videos about Dahlia’s. How many dahlias do you grow? Also wondering why you interact the dahlias rather than growing one variety altogether??
@OriginFlowersNI4 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! I grow around 1000 dahlias. I spread them out as I start potting up each variety at different weeks so that when the earlier ones start to get tired the later ones are still strong!

Nice to see you again. Fostering is a wonderful thing to do. Here on the Sussex coast, it basically rained from October to April (left in my dahlias, most rotted), Half of my allotment flooded, then we had a cold, dry spring which went on till mid June. Things were therefore planted late, and then we have had slug and snail apocalypse. I planted a bed of snaps in March and they have been fantastic. So not a great growing year but getting ready to get ahead with hardy annuals. xx

Oh thank you for watching! The polytunnel are different sizes. Two of them are 16ft x 60ft, one is 16x 54, and the one we use for events is 24ft x 48ft. I am in zone 8/9 😊

I'm in zone 9b (Florida) and ordered ranunculus. We'll see how they do in my climate. I find snapdragons and strawflowers do well here so that's my go during the cooler months.
@OriginFlowersNI Жыл бұрын
Ooh fab! Does it get cold with you? I've been to Florida once, absolutely beautiful and very hot! 🤣
@Angie_P Жыл бұрын
@@OriginFlowersNI yes, very hot and humid. This year was one of the hottest ones I've experienced. It can get cold for a few days in January or February but it's relative. What your body reacts to is the drop in temperature. During winter months one day can be in the 30's and the next day in low teens so the change in temperature is what makes it feel cold where as if it was further up north the lower temp wouldn't be a bid deal.

I absolutely love ranunculus, they are a staple in my cut flower beds. In fact, I think I will be bumping my stock from 100 to 400 for the 2024 season. I don't start mine until Feb. 1st-ish.
