Mountjoy had enormous run of the green in this match. Any other version of Reardon wins.

Started to watch snooker during Terry’s 1979 win. He was a modest newcomer at the time someone you could relate too. Sad to see he’s no longer with us. RIP.

Stephen Champion 1989, 1990 impressive match, two very important things I saw, concentration, and determination = perfect match to win again. Congratulations, champion, 21 years old. I'm very happy to see you this match. Thanks, this channel.

Classy old school break, and player! 👏👏👏

Dennis Taylor here only 36 years old, again he was *only 36* and quite frankly looking old enough to be Steve Davis' father, and I'm not joking.

So the miss rule wasn't introduced in Sept 1995 as the narrative suggests. I see it here in May 1991 at 15:15 in all its colours.

referee completely wrong in this case
@Kerry-t5f5 күн бұрын
Shouldn't Thorburn have noticed the ref did not acknowledge "green ball"? Not really for Higgins to contradict the referee if he isn't sure himself. Especially a referee that he clearly got along with unlike Street and Williams. The foul being called was hardly a massive advantage anyway - at least it shouldn't have been.

Hendry wasn't far off being world champion at the age of 18. He only lost in the last frame in this quarter final match.

Why didn't the commentators just shut the f up? Missed all the banter 😡

I remember an earlier match where Smyth called a miss and the players and replay showed he was wrong. He was told by the governing body he needed glasses, which he then had prescribed. Terrible referee.

Must admit (and this is obviously ignorance on my part...) I am surprised that those "leg-less" (no Alex, not talking about you) tables were in evidence as early as 1971!

One of the interesting things looking back at this, is how back then they were both so serious and cold (with Hendry purposefully modelling his persona on Davis). But these days, we know now that they are both really funny, interesting and amiable people. It can't have come totally naturally to have to be like this, and be so distant from the other players, but they were both total winners and did what they needed to do. Hendry has said it was only his friendship with Mark Williams that broke that coldness with the other players. If anyone reading hasn't seen it, please watch the Steve Davis interview on Hendry's Cue Tips. They're so great together and it's full of excellent insights and anecdotes

Amazing to think that, 13 years after he won his first World Championship, and after a number of brilliant young talents (Davis, White) had come on the scene, Ray Reardon was still at the top. That's quite an achievement.
