Loved the whole section about "why a tandem and why not two solos". Very much sums up Sue and my experience over the last nearly 30 years. Of course we're not even on the same planet as you two physically... but even with our much lower achievements we "get it".

Great to hear more from Stevie! The previous ride experience like Derby/Lands End/John O'Groats/Derby in 10 days and a 60 hour PBP explain some of ability to average 100 miles a day for 180 days!

Stevie and Laura, thanks for your continued work in putting out videos and interviews. I enjoyed your round the world ride, recognized parts of the route, and enjoyed Stevie's perspective in this audio. My wife and I have around 40,000 tandem kilometres, mostly touring, but not at your speed. Our current tandem is a coupled Co-Motion with a Rohloff hub and belt drive. Keep those wheels spinning!

Those last couple of days.... hypothermia, wheel bearings and a final 4am get up to ride 120miles in falling snow. I've said it before.... but you two are made of something else. Physically strong, but the mental toughness is off the scale! I followed each of these days as I put the GPX files together. Often looking in at Google Streetview to get a feel for it. But these videos give a much better view with your commentary. Looking forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks and getting the book. Congratulations again!🎉

Your face at 20:19 😢 What a roller coaster. Long days, knee problem for Stevie, then the freehub pawl springs failing. Just to cap it off you had to race a storm into Halifax. Never ever easy. Another great video. Lovely scenery on the sunny days!

Another great video. What a land of contrasts, from the Rockies, through the prairies and on into the land of lakes and forests. In 1978 I stood on the shore of Lake Superior and marvelled at the vast expanse of "ocean" with waves breaking on the shore. Everything is big in Canada. I really felt for you with the cold. There's nothing worse than cold hands and feet when cycling. Seems like nothing you can wear can beat the cold when it's below freezing. Loved the "little wins" like the room upgrade at the end. Great for morale! 30 days to go.... but as we know.... it wasn’t plain sailing!

Your face (plus riding in rubber gloves) really told a story of the rain/cold (about 23min in). Drivers in NZ not renowned for their sympathy with cyclists (British understatement). Another great video. NZ is a fab place. We had 23 days in a Campervan in 2017. That's probably a better way to see the place unfortunately.

@@stelatandem2702 You also missed some of the most fantastic places scenery wise. Bay of Islands north of Aukland, the whole west coast on South Island, the central alpine area on South Island, the volcanic areas in North Island.... If I was going again it would be for 6 weeks and that would be in a van again! It has so much in a relatively small space. But it does take a while to get around as most roads are pretty small and twisty.

Jesus.... I spent most of that video just wanting to hug you both. It shows how a moments inattention by a motor vehicle operator can have such devastating consequences for vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians. It's still great to see your progress, but horrible viewing at times. Looking forward to the next episode.

You looked much better in this second half of India. I loved the "crowd" that gathers when you stop. The switches in the hotel room were amazing! Such a shame you had to just keep going all the while and miss out on seeing some sights. O briefly (8 days) visited India with work about 15 years ago. How you coped with the city traffic is beyond me. Finally, watching these videos is bringing to life all the GPX files I worked on. Looking forward to following episodes.

I have just watched this Episode 1 and seen the tumble/crash you had on the Danube cycle past just before leaving Slovakia, I guess between Cenkov and Obid where the path deteriorates into a tractor trail. We crashed on the same part of the trail on the loose small stones/narrow track. They seem to be working on upgrading that part of the path now but I think completion is a year away.

Loved tracking you on the road/Strava at the time and great to see the detail now. How did/do you put up with not being able to see round Steve? Chronic neck problems?! it's why I refuse to ride a tandem with my Steve who is a foot taller than me too. Plus I don't trust him to not petrify me. Excellent teamwork. I was expecting more blankety blank bloopers/outtakes at the end. Brilliant (although the music gets on my wick a bit but that won't stop me watching.) Asia here you come! That was a long haul and I wasn't riding it.

Hi, thanks so much! I've actually developed quite a good stoker "peer" around the side and not having to watch the road/steer it's actually a lot easier to manage my neck pain/mobility than on a solo... getting used to relinquishing the control when I started riding tandem wa definitely a challenge though!! I may have cut the swearing out the end so KZbin didn't get upset... I'll try and find better music as I go and the next ones are shorter as I quickly ran out enthusiasm 🤣
