So this is where Ron Berglas went! You were one of my favourite character actors on British television. I remember you used to pop up on a lot of my favourite TV shows such as "Rumpole of the Bailey", "Jonathan Creek", "Kavanagh QC", "Boon", and the unjustly forgotten "Pulaski". However, my two favourite Ron Berglas roles were as the sardonic pathologist in "Messiah" (I really hoped you'd come back for series two) and Dr Leidner in one of my favourite and goriest episodes of "Poirot". I was so sad to learn you gave up acting (why?).
@poughquag6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. Sorry to have taken so long to reply but I recently suffered a stroke and my time has been spent recovering. I gave up acting because I wanted to be of use. Now I teach English in a school for kids who have had challenging lives, and theatre in a community college. I may act again onstage with my son who is studying to be an actor. But that's it. Thank you for following my career.

Wow! Thanks for replying. I didn't see the comment as for some reason I didn't get a notification. I'm sorry about the stroke and I hope you're feeling better by now! I'm also glad you've found your calling in life and that you feel "of use", but I do hope you know you were most certainly of use in your past career as well, and you helped (in no small part either) to bring joy to many viewers, myself included. Thanks for all the roles!

Getting help early is in possible if you are not rich,psychologists are not covered and immediately families are forced to seek therapy from professionals of lower credentials,not only this,the wait periods is usually about eight months and when you begin therapy and feel the therapy has zero impact once a month visits where the parent sits in and realizes the therapist badly digs into anything deeper then adhd the parent is discouraged to shop around knowing another eight months waiting period.All this time the child grows and the symptoms grow before you blink your eye the child is now grown.The shifts waiting periods and lack of credential in Ohip therapist continually allow these children to pass through childhood,now being deeply effected from their illness and trying to get help now for your ill young adult child is lost,that teenager if being affected by personality disorders and such will not believe they have a problem ,instead their illness causes them to blame rather then understand it will better their inner health,these young adults then go into the world ,jails,alcohol abuse,also abusing others .We need faster service,we need top notch credentials covered after all this child will effect our society as a whole and end up costing ten times the amount if they had have had top notch advocates not based on personal income.Our system is to slow,we need a system that intervenes immediately with multiple open doors if a second third fourth opinions etc are needed.I watch theses advocates speak continually talking the talk but the actions many parents witness are this,one example.....call the child in crises line,I am in London Ontario,you will get through immediately,TO a machine...Every time,you will never get emergency service,call plz do this has been going on for years,instead you will hear a machine saying if your child is in a crises they can be brought to the emergency or leave a message and we will get back to you immediately ..the call returned 8 to 12 hours later that is the crises line.Also a crises center,I had witnessed a friend a mother race her child in after receiving the answering machine.she stood waiting for the doors to be answered after ringing a doorbell as the facility is locked.after a five minute wait two very young adult girls arrived and asked the situation the parent explained her child is in the car,can not calm was currently supervised in the car out front,they r in crises and the girls first reply was well it is late,kids are sleeping and if his state is bad he may awaken others and this would not be fair,can you bring him back in the mourning,moms jaw dropped I thought this center was for crises,well yes mam it is but if we were to get him in here against his will he may run and it's dark there are bushes we would have to call police and he could end up in worse danger,since I have no faith in what these service providers state as I feel it's all talk.And children aid advocates are so ill trained lacking seriousness credentials needed yet required very little credentials because the agencies pay is extremely low and this is the governments lack to provide the highest training for the children they so portray to care about.Why the epidemic of mental illness in children is growing ,parental alienation with advocates having zero training in psychological abuse mixing it up with child neglect..is the child skinny hungry dirty,wow no training can recognize these issues ,these are the people in power and yet it's the public having to educate and they usually are educating because the advocates are missing severe issues and when these advocates view a non professional guiding them they often have huge egos that they know it all ignoring the depths of knowledge the outsider is trying to make them aware of instead these all mighty child workers study the stressed parents character and focus on the parent desperate measures to get them to understand they make the elementary error viewing the situational stress in the parent as the cause ,shifting off the child once again yet claiming to be for the child,also severe family dis function being unrecognized due to wrong therapy.my friend was told after having a quiz over the phone regarding their child's behavior after finding out the child's behavior was not effecting society yet,meaning the child's sickness only infected the family that the child was not vandalizing the neighborhood yet(because the child was raised with healthy moral But had an illness that would in time infect the society) immediately they went from offering a sort of detention like center ( which is where the child gets to make friends with real violent kids) to,ohh your child has not broken car windows,steal oh in that case we will send a worker to your home for a month ,sit in the background and after a month we can maybe offer assistance or give you tools on how to deal with certain challenges,these strategies again have nothing to do with curing a child and by the time the child reaches age still nothing has aided the child what so ever rather failed the child and so quickly the advocates breath after the child turns 16, sorry out of our hands.Our system is all talk no action and the only cause of failure lays on our governments lack of caring for our children,children do not offer big bucks- governments biggest motive is money.Anyone involved in this system knows they talk the talk but the walk is a complete contradiction ofIn The Best Interest for the children,this is one big lie!

If the child is ill coming from an ill parent ,that ill parent will hide the child's conditions fearing psychologists m ay dig deeper into family systems and that their hidden disorder may be discovered,therefore they do not want the actual cause figured out.if they can not hide the child's illness immediately the pd disordered parent will convincingly distort events trying desperately to keep the doctors study only on the child ,or manipulate child into believing the healthy parent had caused this in the child.with advocates only servicing woman issues regarding woman always as victims ,this delusion is easily believed,either way the child's ability to be healed through therapy is completely sabotaged because treating a child for the wrong diagnoses is like going into ones body and removing several non cancerous tumors but missing the one that is deadly,the child's illness will grow and remain hidden from its actual origins.Family systems should always pulled into the picture,it is the number one therapy that specializes in seeing through any fog.All mental illness is not always the cause of a dysfunctional family however in a large percentage it is the case ,without family systems therapy being pulled in on all child illnesses the advocates are usually misdiagnosing the child therefore treating the child's symptoms such as depression cutting hyper active defiance rather then the actual root cause.When the root cause is the family of origin the child will not be cured and will continually suffer remaining damaged throughout the lifespan.

Senate Bill 170/Code 3042 is now in process to reduce the age where children are forced to choose between parents from 14 to age 10. This bill plays into the hands of pathological alienators who easily manipulate children to reject a responsible loving parent. I encourage everyone to write their senator and Senator Leyva who sponsored the bill, to reject this bill. It is moving in the wrong direction.

PA is not a "syndrome" and does not exist. The man who coined the term PA, Dr Gardner was a pedophile who later committed suicide. Makes you wonder who would support such theories
@poughquag7 жыл бұрын
Troy, You'll notice I don't mention the word "syndrome" because it does not advance the argument nor do I discuss Dr. Gardner and I think it is important to make those distinctions. I am trying to protect children from the alienating tactics of an unwell parent by including Parental Alienation within the definition of child abuse so that it can be studied by trainee therapists and social workers. That, I believe, is worth fighting for. Wouldn't you agree?
@troyolson45517 жыл бұрын
my concern is how many of the proponents that have intentionally allowed their license to lapse to attempt operating under the radar and make money from numerous false allegations of PA. These same people have intentionally placed children with known abusive people. They've proven time and time again that they will simply support whomever pays them. They are not unbiased professionals and one is so pathetic she has a mere high school diploma but is in the business of the mind altering programs but purported as "education". They do not reunite children with families at all as they allege. These people are dangerous. They'd love to take your money...all the while the children are victims. Now doesn't that sound like something everyone that cares about kids could get on board with regulating and stopping?

I believe my colleague Dr. Steinberg mentioned during the subsequent discussion that some therapists and members of the judiciary might be biased. There's no denying that corruption within the system exists but that should not stop us from trying to correct serious lapses in the system. Everyone has their own personal history with regard to PA and none of them deserve to be discounted. However bad your experience must have been, you have to agree that therapists and all those involved with the protection of children have to be educated with regard to what really happens to children when they are psychologically abused by a parent so that the children can be removed from that parent and placed with the emotionally healthy parent. If you heard my presentation you will know that I continue to be one of those targeted parents and so is my colleague. Please support what we are trying to do. We are not Gardnerians or anything else. We're parents.

Mr. Berglas gives an excellent explanation of why causing parental alienation is a form of child psychological abuse.
@4Batgirl48 жыл бұрын
Thank you Ron Berglas for helping raise awareness to this devastating form of emotional and mental child abuse. In my humble opinion, if we had a rebuttable presumption of equal, shared parenting at the onset of divorce or separation, in the absence of abuse, neglect or abandonment that would reduce the number of cases of PA. According to Dr. Amy Baker's research for her book tilted; Breaking the ties that bind, over 80% of PA cases occur in high conflict divorce and the balance in high conflict marriages. In the majority of the cases, PA is used to gain the higher power in our existing court system and sadly, our existing system facilitates this type of behaviour. The longer the court process takes, the more money the lawyers make. We have had equal, shared parenting bills in parliament in the past and our biggest opposition was the Canadian Bar Association because they have a vested interested in maintaining the 'status quo" - if we did obtain a rebuttable presumption of equal, shared parenting at the onset of divorce or separation, our family law lawyers would lose two thirds of their income.... of course they don't want that and they are not acting in the "Best Interest of the Child".Like Brazil and Mexico, we need a new law that defines and punishes PA here in Canada, we also need to bring our existing family law system up to date and change our laws to reflect a rebuttable presumption of equal, shared parenting at the onset of divorce or separation - that would be in the "Best Interest of the Child".Just to distinguish between PA and PAS;, PA is the parenting behaviour and PAS is the consequences of that behaviour - we need to continue raising awareness to this devastating form of child abuse and we need to reach out to our government and ask them to support equal, shared parenting and to make it a reality!Without your help, our future is lost. Our children are our future and if we raise them to disrespect and hate, what do we have?
