I'm an Indonesian and we're used to food with strong snell like terasi (fermented shrimp paste), salted dry fish and off course durian fruit. I'd really love to try surstromming. I may like it given that I personally really love fish.

I couldn’t figure out why I kept expecting mustard to be on the table, until I remembered my mom and I laying on her bed (when my dad wasn’t home), opening a can of sardines in oil. I always had to take the tail off, then I would remove the skin, exactly as you do with the surstromming, then open it at the belly, remove the bones, and then top a saltine with mustard, finely minced onion, and the sardine. You just brought back one of my best memories I ever had with my mother… thank you❤ Ps when they started selling boneless, skinless sardines, I was in heaven!!!
