I agree....before I co slept I would fall asleep sitting up with the baby or on the couch...now when I'm worried about falling asleep remove the extra pillows and blankets on my bed and baby sleeps with feet towards my midsection head towards the edge of the bed (with mesh rail) My arm goes under my pillow far away from the baby. I think it's safer than my bassinet which has partial fabric sides he rolls into! It's terrified me a few times to wake up a and see his face in the fabric. They ought to design co sleeping cribs! My bassinet is super uncomfy it's squishy but you can feel the bars this is s 300 dollar bassinet. If you ask me truly cribs are the safest, however, my first stopped breathing in my bed at 3 months after a seizure. Had he not been in my bed he could have died. I agree that Doctors need to give better advice.

Thank you for this sensible video on emotional insight and intelligence. I write about the unintended consequences of sexist music media on girls on KZbin, esp. Black and Brown girls. This facet is a necessary aspect of what I hope to show with my work and is relevant to my own experience as an adult recovering from childhood experiences of emotional betrayal.

Is there any possibility to get subtitles in spanish for this interview? We have such a knowledge gap here in Spain, it would be wonderful to be able to make this information available to parents here.

Does anyone have any experience using CBD oil for pain/stress relief only during labor & delivery? I can't imagine it being a threat to baby over such a short duration, but am curious if would have any negative impact on progress of contractions etc... Can't be worse than the cocktail of drugs in an epidural, right?!?

Thank you for the video 😊 I gave birth 3 months ago and about two months ago I experienced some symptoms of trauma like vivid dreams of my episiotomy and even when I was awake I had flashes and I wept constantly. It came after I tried to calm my little girl by skin to skin contact and it took me about a fortnight to process. I felt like a coward thinking an episiotomy can't be such a severe trauma and I came to the conclusion that had I been warned and told it was necessary, had the nurse who performed the procedure talked to me about it afterwards, I may not have had the terrible dreams at all. I am very grateful that somebody is properly researching (often needlessly caused) birth trauma. ❤

Hi Kathleen Thank you so much for your you tube about birth trauma. I am a Scotish midwife in the Paris region in France and am branching into this area as for me it is a huge issue. In general the postnatal care in France is poor, but as birth is far too medicalised here birth trauma is a big problem Do you have any % so I can give facts to the medical staff thank you in advance Pamela Igwe [email protected]

Why do cultural mediums resist and even attack the abundant attachment science and parents who embrace its evolutionary wisdom? Robin Grille, Australian psychologist and author of Parenting for a Peaceful World, presents a insightful and compassionate view of cultural resistance to the attachment message and provides some guidance for sharing the attachment message to friends and family.

Robin Grille joins Lu Hanessian on the Parenting for a Peaceful World USA Tour at the Museum of Motherhood in New York City to talk about his vision for children, parents and humanity, and how we can get there from here. "How we treat the child, the child will treat the world," is Robin's message, and he takes us from interpersonal relationships, child-rearing and family bonding to our relationship with the Earth.

"For most of human history, 95% of history, there were 4 adults for every child in the community. So when a parent was tired there were many other adults to take care of their children." I love this focus and the understanding it can at least give to attachment parents, even though they don't have enough support. So much wisdom in this video!

Wow, this really resonated with me. I write about my family's life and choices - we practiced attachment parenting and now unschool our children and I often think how ironic it is that spreading a message of peace and love is so controversial. I do believe that a lot of what you say is true. It reminded me of a piece I wrote last year: www.togetherwalking.com/1/post/2013/01/community-independence-and-help.html "At a time when many mothers (or fathers) are really needing help themselves, children are pushed to be "independent" before they are ready. Whoa. There *has* to be a link there. Subconsciously how many moms are realizing they just can't do it all alone... and then they turn around and try to make their kids do "it" (whatever "it" may be) themselves? The lack of support given to mothers becomes a weight that is shifted to children, as we all try to cope with our (relatively) new "nuclear" way of living. And as quickly as this realization came I also knew that until we support our mothers the way *they* deserve to be, kids will not get the lives they deserve."

Excellent video Kate. Thank you for being not only a leader in the field, but a leader taking this to social media, which is crucial to the mass communication level. For the future of humanity, as we know it, everyone needs to be aware and understand this field, regardless of age, culture or belief systems. It impacts every human being.
